Anyone fitted the track type roof rack or tray?

Postby darren278 on Sun, 13 Nov 2016 9:34 +0000

Hi guys, looking to get a roof tray for the sr5.
I'd rather have the feet that sit over the roof gutter than the ones that clamp round the edge of the door shuts.
Anyone here fitted this system and how did it go?
I don't like the idea of drilling the roof Incase I mess up but if it's a fairly straight forward procedure I'll just have to be careful.
Oh, I'm looking at rhino rack but open to other recommendations.

Cheers

If its the same as the previous model you'll be drilling roof. Pretty easy job! Measure twice drill once and plenty of silicon!

I've got the rhino quick mount feet system which is based around a rail riveted into the roof gutter. The rail sits slightly above the gutter but isn't unattractive. The platform rack hangs in the rafters under the house where I park the car when not in use and I just lower it down onto the quick mount feet when I want to install.

Was the rail easy to install?

Rail is simple mate just follow the instructions that come in the box and make sure you use a stop on your drill, that's the only part that's iffy . A round piece of dowl works well for that.

Once the holes are drilled use a bunch of cold gal In the holes to stop rust.

I'm got a Front Runner on a 2016 Hilux over Rhino which I have had since 2001, Opposite Lovk Dandy charged me $100 to fit it.
Glad I got it - love it
