Yes it can be done ! you need to change the clockspring as well as install the new wheel, it took me a couple of months to sort it all out, as for a diagram there is no such thing,

Ive yet to actually do the install , but most if not all are ready and waiting for a spare day too do it all

alot of the install also depends on what Radio you have , i have the Factory Dble Din Sat nav, and it took me a month to source the appropriate wires, but in essence the PRADO wires work, you also have too run wires to the INFO indicator above the Sat nav , or the INFO buttons on the Steering wheel become redundent

Cheers

you can buy a wiring kit by Aeropro to suit the hilux for the stering controls including the range, L/100km, tempreture.... computer...

Very easy install and only $114... not too bad

The electrical diagram for the radio and computer controls are on http://toyota.esealtd.com/toyota/hilux/index2.html.

its in the 2 sections under the "Electrical Wiring Diagram"

BODY ELECTRICAL > Audio System
BODY ELECTRICAL > Clock (w/ Multi Display)

Hope it helps.

Davis,

I have a 2008 Hilux D/cab (TRD) and I have already fitted a 2009 steering wheel with steering controls as my one didnt come out with the steering controls as was one of the early models. When i replaced the steering wheel i also replaced the clock spring.

I still have not succesfully got the steering wheel audio controls to work...

There seems to be a bit of wiring missing that goes from the clock spring to the head unit to allow this. The plugs were not there when i connected the new clock spring and wheel...

Do you think the aero pro kit is what is needed to complete the upgrade?

has anyone succesfully dont this yet and got it to work?

Regards,
George

did you manage to sort this? i want to fit a 2015 wheel with audio controls to a 2007 hilux without them, i imagine the wiring harness has no wires so will have to add them, got the clock spring etc , programmable head unit,so just need to join the clock spring to the head unit, i have the 28 pin plug that goes into the head unit with short wires off the 2015 harness but i didnt remove it ,

It can be done and is pretty easy. I have a 2007 SR and fitted a 2012 wheel with steering controls and the clock spring. You need to run 2 new wires from the steering plug to the head unit and one to the clock to make the multi function display button work( I had to upgrade clock as SR is basic). Search the forum and all the wiring and write ups are here to show you “how-to” do it as that’s how I worked it out.

Hey guys,

Iv been doing my brain in trying to find a write up on steering wheel controls with the multi display button

Iv have 2012 steering in an 05. I have all the Audio controls works from the steering wheels but can for the life of me work out the button for the multi display

The display is working perfectly and iv added the temp sensor and that is working.

Just cant work out how to get the button on the wheel to change the display.

Could anybody point me in the right section
