john253a wrote:'doyta' can't comment on the speakers as myself I've never herd them, but the sub and amp arnt matched to well, the sub requires max 300wrms at 4 ohm and the 300.1 only makes 150wrms at 4ohm, and with that sub having a low sensitive of 86db 1w/1m you'll want atleast 300wrms if not 350wrms.
As that sub is a dual 2 ohm you can wire it to 1ohm but that amp isn't rated for 1ohm.
I fell you would be better off sending the 300.1 back and getting the P300.2 it's able to do 300wrms @4ohm bridged, it's a far better match
It will take you from 111.4db to 114.6db, 3 times louder.

Yeah your right mate. I will swap it over.
Cheers thanks

Yes this can be done very easily you either need to get an amp with high level input or get an inverter from high to low, best bet it a better amp one with high level input,
1 I tell most to look at is the kicker zx700.5 it will run all 4 speakers and sub of one amp + is high level capable and will also allow the sub to be indervigal controlled from bass knob, has a switch to allow the sub imput to be run of speaker Chanel input, so less wiring in required, it also has a switch so no remote wire I requires to turn on so you don't need to remove headunit it you don't want

thanks heaps, does the amp come with all that stuff or do i need to source the wiring, bass knob and switch elsewhere? :D

Just looking at the specs John I agree with the bridged 300 for the p300/2 but the p300-1 says on specs Under where it says 300@ 2 ohms that 240watts @ 4ohms and the p300/2 says 114 watts @4 ohms. Are you shore this would be a better amp to choose (p300/2)

The amp comes just as the amp all you will need is the bass knob, 4g power wire from batter, 4g earth wire, and speaker wire.
I'll post a drawing when I get home

all youll need is the amp (around 400 dropped off at door)
1x 25mtr 16g speaker wire (mid 20's at bunnings/ audio shop)
1x 25mtr 14g speaker wire (mid 30's at bunnings/ audio shop)
7mtrs 4g power cable with 4 termales and fuse holder (around 70 at audio shop)
bass knob (price unknowns as i never use them, i set and forget on amp)
ooo yeah and some speakers and sub of your choise,
amp does 75wrms x4 @4ohm or 100wrms x4 @2ohm + 200wrms x1 @4ohm or 400wrms x1 @2ohm

This is the amp i use on my 4x door speakers and 2x 8" subs under rear seat in tool boxes

John
Just looking at the specs John I agree with the bridged 300 for the p300/2 but the p300-1 says on specs Under where it says 300@ 2 ohms that 240watts @ 4ohms and the p300/2 says 114 watts @4 ohms. Are you shore this would be a better amp to choose (p300/2)

From another site cut n copied below

well you are looking at the numbers wrong first. the p3001 is 150x1@4ohm and 300x1@2ohms the p3002 is 75x2@4ohms 150x2@2ohms and 300x1@4ohms bridged and the p5002 is 125x2@4ohms 250x2@2ohms and 500x1@4ohms bridged. That is the rated power, rf is underated tho so you are accutally getting more than that. If it is going to be for subs i would stick with a mono amp since that is what it is designed for. it seems you want to have the punch product like so the p3001 or the p6001bd would be the amp i would recomend depending on how those ppi subs are on there rms watts. The punch amps are 2ohm stable amps so there is no way it would be 600x1@2ohm on a p3001, cuz for it to be the x1 that means it is bridged and it will not do 2ohms bridged.
the only rf amps that are 2ohm bridgeable are the new power amps. when you briged a amp at 4ohms the amp is reading as the channels are wired into 2ohms. If a amp is 75x2@4ohms it would be 150x2@2ohms and 300x1@4ohms bridged. Most amps are 2ohm stable which mean it will go no lower than 2 ohms on each channel. if you bridge it at 2ohms the amp is seeing 1 ohm on each channel, and if it is a fosgate it is supposed to go into protect. i have personally owned a P3001 and i would take it over a p3002 for subs. The P3001 makes it eazy for hooking up subs to get 2ohms, if you have 2 4ohm subs you can hook it up to the amp on the 2 outputs and since it is wired parallel internally it will see it at 2ohms and give the 300x1@2ohms, i wish the older mono amps were done the same way as that one was. but if you are not going to keep the amp for subs the P3002 would b better for you since you could do more with it but if you want a amp strictly for subs the P3001 would be the one i recomend

to answer this ill post links to manufactures site all you need to do is go to specifications just under photo of product.
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products ... _id=108231
product p300.1
Rated Power (RMS Continuous Power)
150 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm
300 Watts x 1 @ 2-Ohm
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products ... cale=en_us
product p300.2
Rated Power (RMS Continuous Power)
75 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
150 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm
300 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

Also the only reason i recommended that amps is it is the same $$$ value so should be a direct swap, the best amp for that sub would be the p400.2 but it may not be in your price range, or fit were required to go
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products ... &p_status=
product 400.2
Rated Power (RMS Continuous Power)
100 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
200 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm
400 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

with the 400.2 it will take the spl output from 114.6 to 115.8db, it doesn't sound like much but it will be twice as loud when playing the lows.

Hey guys, does anyone know where you can buy STP sound deadener, its meant to be better than dynamat. I have heard that the STP is made the russian army and it becomig nquite popular these days over dynamat as it provides better insulation and its thicker.

any sub with that wrms aint going to fit inside a hilux no matter what the size unless your removing a seat or two.
secondly the stock speakers will br way to quite compared to the sub and the overall sound will lack,

in my opinion if you are only looking for better bass and not big bass, just replace the stock speaker with some good one's and forget the sub,

What you budget and experience with install.

Box looks good "wideawake".
Have you got it running yet? I love my JL. Would definitely recommend them.

What did your box volume come in at? Looks like a good 1Cu/foot from the pics.

im in the early stages of pulling out the back door pockets (if you will) out of a space cab and making identical custom boxes inside the door skins. should look tidy and with a little extra effort i should be able to use the space under the rear seat for more volume.

any thoughts or ideas?

I just installed a orion cobalt amp ( 300 watt i think, small enough to fit under the seat in one of the storage areas) and put an audio line 12 inch slimline sub (http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/car-soun ... box/435841) behind the seat, and still have room for things on either side. If anyone wants the box size let me know and i will measure it.

Hi all, hopefully some master could help me to decide on my system. Okie, i have a Kicker amps KX650.4 which my bro took it off from his car sometimes ago. So now i would like to know does this amps good to run with a sub and the 4 speaker and tweter? Or i should run another amp for the 4 speakers and tweter? I do have another Sony Xplore amps which also left behind from my bro. And Which sub would recommend? Should i stick with the Kicker Sub or JL? Thinking may be just a 10" sub.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Building a sub box at the moment for a 2012 Workmate - Dual cab, going to use similar dimensions to Saf's as I also got the 13tw5 JL 13.5". Only thing I can see straight out that may be a problem is that the seat belt socket anchor brackets are only 80mm off the back wall and the sub box sits 180mm off the back wall??

The box (if centred) must cover both of them as they are 400mm apart and the box is over 600mm wide or if installed off centre would cover at least one of them. Does this affect passengers being able to reach the seatbelt sockets? Also, does it make the box unstable as it is balancing on 1or2 bolts rather than the floor?

Second Question I have is : Did everyone in here carpet the back wall???? Or is it only the workmate that is bare metal?? :P If you carpeted it, what did you use to stick it down? looks factory in the photo's.
