Hey cheers john awesome feedback.

I wasn't sure about those pioneers, i have read a few reviews saying that pioneer lack a little in the sub department, but do you think these will hit just as hard as any other sub within our limitations of mounting depths?

If i do go those pioneers would i be better off stepping up to 2 x 12' subs rather then 10's, as they have the same mounting depth and are only slightly more expensive? I'm fairly confident i can get over a cubic foot volume out of the box i'll make to house the subs.

Oh and they will be going behind the seat, i use my storage boxes for my recovery gear, and yes i have done the fold down seat mod if thats the one your talking about?

hi fellas
i dont know if your's is the same but my 07 dual cab SR has rear seats that fold upwards from the floor instead of forwards like most dual cabs. which obviously makes it hard to gain access behind the seat without taking the whole seat out.
my question is how did you go installing subs and a box behind the rear seat and the dimensions that i would have to work with?
sitting at home waiting to be installed are 2 13.5" JL Audio Slimline Subs (600 rms each) and 2 500/1 amps to power them.
these subs are 2.5" deep but im still unsure if they will fit.
any recommendations or past experience with this?
also i have the pioneer avhp3350bt touchscreen head deck in the dash and it is great with ipod audio and video. you can purchase the non-bluetooth version for around $500.

Now they will fold forward to gain the extra space.

You can easy fit 2x jl13 behind seat the problem your going to have is the amps
If you fit the 2 behind seat you'll have to put amp under front seats witch is ok but were are you going to put your 4ch when you wire up your speakers
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

If your looking at building a ported box you'll have to use 10's as 12" can only run sealed

The 10's will be louder in a ported box but the 12's will be louder in the lows below 50hz

Also with the 12" it's 93db 1w/1m so it will require less rms for the same volume

If you can afford the 12" idd get them But you'll need a bigger amp
Also with Pioneer TS-SW3001S2 you can fit up to 4 behind the seat

If you are going to run the 12" you need to get an amp around 6-800 rms at 2 ohms with 2x Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 in 1cuft each sealed or 3x Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 in 0.7cuft each on a 1000-1200wrms at 1ohm or even 4x Pioneer TS-SW3001S2 in 0.5cuft each with a 1500wrms at 2ohm

It all comes down to how much bass you require

Or if 3 in

my plan was to put the sub amps under the front seats and the 4 ch in with the subs in a custom enclosure. its a bit of a wiring headache but i cant see much way around it

no hope of fitting 2x jl13 and an amp behind seat
The jl 13.5 require 0.8cuft each and the rear only houses 2.5cuft - wood and youll require at least 3/4mdf
so youll be down to around 1.6-1.8cuft so there no space for amp there

Also you do know that there a 3ohm svc sub idd recomend running then off only 1 amp, either a 1ch mono or 2ch d class, youll need to find something that will make 1000-1200wrms @ 1.5ohms so youll need to find an amp 1ohm stable that will make 12-1500rms @1ohm
that way you only need to house the 2 amps under the seats

recommended amp for 2 jl13.5 is JL Audio HD1200/1 it the only amp rated for 1200wrms @1.5ohms

but ill give you a list of other options in my order of preference
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_335 ... 200-1.html
2x http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_153 ... 750-1.html
2x http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_262 ... DX-M6.html
2x http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_268 ... 600-1.html

also please remember the sub is only as good as the amp and box used to run them and when you have got one of the highest sq slimline sub available it needs a good sq amp to run it

ive got 2 jl slash amps that do 500rms at 1.5 - 4 ohm. which will be sufficient. just a logistical issue. the reason i didnt get the hd1200 was because i could get the slash's a hell of a lot cheaper. but in hindsight i should have just saved up a few more weeks haha
we'll see how it goes anyway.
and i'll be posting some pics when shes complete

Daztron
Those are very good amp's.
Make sure the sub's do not share the same box, they need to be in separate boxes
And made of at least 16mm mdf with a brace.

I just hope you have the big 3 done and a 300amp alt for to run all this,

got a 08 SR5. I have read the whole discussion, which has made my discission harder. . . too many options. I am willing to spend aprox $800 for a good suby and amp. Which is a great brand, size, and location in car for me so set up my sound system. also, I have been told that slimline are not the best as they do not produce a good sounding bass?

Give me two more days and i'll get bak to u about the slims, just bought 2 10" Kicker CVT's for the states with and amp to match for 400 bucks delivered and only took 5 days to rock up :o :D . Made a custom box on the weekend for behind the dual cab rear seat, will wire it all tomorrow and Thursday night and let you know how it sounds.

This will be my first experience with slim line subs and 10" subs for that matter so a bit nervous they'll be a bit weak, but will soon see. :D

Yes slimline sub arnt as good as std ones. But however they are better then no sub.
If you after one of the best sounding slimline sub around look at the jl13.5"
You will easily get 1 and a good amp for that
Jl13.5" slimline sub 13TW5-3
And JL slash V2 amp 500/1v2
Del from states for around $800

That sub will keep up with all STD 12" if not 2 of them

the kicker slimline TCVT 12''s also arent bad. nowhere near the JL's soundwise, but they are quite a lot cheaper and are great with the right amp. eg. kicker zx400.1 would be perfect. you would be looking around $750 ish for that set up. probly half that price on ebay.

Wouldn't even was my time installing it if it was free you'll get better bass out of a good set of splits with and amp, and you'll have a better sound to boot

Very excited about the system i have just purchased.
A mate of mine in the audio idustrie/ rockford fosgate audio gear hooked me up with a car stereo system,
amps i bought for my luxy was the p300-1 mono amp, the p500-4 amp, the p3l s-12 subb box, front german maestro sv6509 speakers, rear German maestro cc6508 speakers, 4awg dual amp kit, the sub volume control. I had forgotten the business my mate was in an had originally bought jl audio/alpine gear from jb so i took all that shit back and bought all the above gear for less the what i spent at jb which was around $1600, the above gear would of cost me around $3000 almost $900 just for the front speakers if i was joe blow. Now to buy the clarion nx501A and have it all installed.

Put it in gear and go farking go.

can you run a sub and amp through the stock head unit (toyota genuine satelite navigation audio system) or do i have to buy a whole new head unit? i know you can run it through the original head unit in other cars (mitsubisha, holden etc) but not to sure about the genuine sat nav system?

'doyta' can't comment on the speakers as myself I've never herd them, but the sub and amp arnt matched to well, the sub requires max 300wrms at 4 ohm and the 300.1 only makes 150wrms at 4ohm, and with that sub having a low sensitive of 86db 1w/1m you'll want atleast 300wrms if not 350wrms.
As that sub is a dual 2 ohm you can wire it to 1ohm but that amp isn't rated for 1ohm.
I fell you would be better off sending the 300.1 back and getting the P300.2 it's able to do 300wrms @4ohm bridged, it's a far better match
It will take you from 111.4db to 114.6db, 3 times louder.

Yes this can be done very easily you either need to get an amp with high level input or get an inverter from high to low, best bet it a better amp one with high level input,
1 I tell most to look at is the kicker zx700.5 it will run all 4 speakers and sub of one amp + is high level capable and will also allow the sub to be indervigal controlled from bass knob, has a switch to allow the sub imput to be run of speaker Chanel input, so less wiring in required, it also has a switch so no remote wire I requires to turn on so you don't need to remove headunit it you don't want
