dont change your flasher
all you need is a load placed between pos + and neg - on the car (blinker circuit)
i have led's in all lights on mine
what this does ,it tells the ecu that there is a current load happening when you turn the blinker on
Before your leds the halogen globe did this job because as you know they chew the juice
Talk to paul at Brightlight auto

IMO I'd prefer to put the LED flasher can on. about $20 for a generic 3pin one (dont know if it fits hilux)

The way flasher cans work is the resistance of the globes set the flash rate.

There are two ways of doing it.
1) Buy a dedicated LED flash can (more suitable if you are using all LED lights).
2) The best way if using mixed light types is place a resistor across the LED lights, this will give the flasher can the right resistance making it flash at the right rate (available at most LED light suppliers).

Have fitted leds to the rear and indicators flash too quick. When I enquired about an electronic flasher can was told the hilux has a flasher module not a can so load resistors are the only way to go. I was hoping that fitting a bull bar with indicators in the bar would load the circuit up enough to slow indicators down will find out in two weeks when bar is fitted. Has anybody done this already leds in the rear and extra globe in the front ?

Good question, i asked Brightlights in Melbourne today and they said take the flasher out and let them know what model and they would supply one to suit

BTW where is the flasher can or module located ? i couldnt find it in the manual ?

Haven't tried looking for where it is, but in older cars they used to be in the fuse box on the drivers side. Because they provide your indicator noise too.

But as others have said, it seems the Hilux uses a module, not an old school can, so might not be somewhere as logical as in the older cars.

The flasher module is on the drivers side under the cover between the steering wheel and the pedals, cover just pulls out. From memory the module is about 30mm wide . To find it remove cover and turn on blinkers module makes a clicking noise and you can feel it vibrate when you touch it. good luck on finding a module.

Hi guys, just looking into led globes for my lux. I have been reading about the resistors and flashing units. I think the resistors are the way to go.

I have a few Questions...;

Do you need resistors on all globes or just the turn signals?
What size resistors should i get?? 8ohm 25W, 6ohm 25W, 6ohm 50W, 5ohm 100W?? . What are people using?
Anyone have photos of where they placed their resistors as I read they can get very hot!
Is anyone using a direct replacement flasher unit? is it working well? Where did you get it from and what was the price

Hope someone can assist me.

Get one of these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-LED-F ... 5ae564e1bf

Takes 2 minutes to plug in & replaces the existing flasher.
Works with both standard globes or LED, or a combination of both.

Thats a good find!

Using resistors would negate some/all of the power savings of your LEDs.
I have used resisters in a mates boat trailer as he tows it with a land rover and it didn't like the LEDs.

Power savings?

you’re kidding right?
