Postby Blotto on Wed, 30 Jun 2010 1:24 +0000

Hi There,

in the last few days, my indicators have stopped blinking when i unlock my car (MY07 SR5)

is there a relay somewhere that controls this?

any help greatly appreciated, its hard to find your car in a carpark with 14 other white sr5's :P

Mine have only ever worked when locking, i just thought that this was Toyota saving money. It makes sense for them to flash when unlocking but where is the sense in this world anymore!!!!!!!!!!!

i think you can actually disable the 'blinking' via a certain combination (like with the seat belt beeper).. perhaps thats happened by accident.. ?.. I dont know what the combination is though... i did read somewhere about being able to do it though.. ill have a look..

I went into my local dealer this morning and they are suppose to flash twice when unlocking and if the door isn't opened with in 20 seconds the doors are suppose to lock again. I told them mine never have so they are looking at it tomorrow. So i will let you know how to fix it then, thats if they pass the secret on but hey i know one of the mechanics .

Went in an apparently they have to check a heap of wires etc..... Sounds like a money spinner to me but i told them it never worked and that it was something they should have picked up on...........Now it is 2 weeks out of warranty, why didn't you put this up 4 weeks ago Blotto!!!!!Well it is going in Monday again so will keep you informed.

Hello Ringer

Please check battery voltage..........If the voltage is under 12.5-12 volts the ECU will go into a power save mode (It will even stop the pre-prime of the fuel pump before start up). Your vehicle is at that age where it’s almost time to replace the battery.

Hello Gulfstream8
I have already replaced the battery around a year ago as i put the one out of the lux in another car and the the battery is 700CCA so plenty of power and has plenty of volts coming out. Cheers for the tip though. Anyway i went into the Toyota shop yesterday and they looked at it and tried to tell me that my 07 SR5 model didn't come with that as it was an option with an alarm!!!!! What a Crock !!!! So a few of my mates have 05 SR5's and the lights flash and the re lock after 30 secs work on theirs so i will be going back again i suppose. What a pain in the rear end. I am really not a happy camper with Toyota!!!! But i still wouldn't buy a Nissan!!!! Sorry for swearing !!!!

Ringer,

mine is an 07, and does not have a factory alarm, just the factory immobiliser and it does flash twice on unlock (after my battery went flat)

Cheers for that. My local Toyota are looking into it but Toyota themselves have said that some cars didn't have it installed. I think i will go bang my head on the wall as i might get somewhere then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting...
I got my '05 Lux second hand around the start of the year and I've never seen it flash after unlocking.
The seat belt warning was already disabled and have since disabled everything else that needs to be.
Except the death rattle! :x

Its a simple one guys... well took me 2hours to figure it out but its the do with the drivers seats seatbelt sensor. When i got my lux i disco'd the sensor to silence the beep. That cable either needs to be cut and twisted together under the seat or left connected. If disco'd and not shorted the lights wont flash on unlock. when using a key to unlock the doors they wont all unlock and some othet weird things. if you havent touched it, it could be a faulty sensor in the seatbelt clip.

Why disconnect wires under seats , when you can turn off the seatbelt buzzer through the dashboard menu ??

Hmmm.... not sure about that one :? Over time I've tryied the wire under the seat, plugged in/out same result.

Just to confuse things more my car (05 SR) always flashes when locked, but sometimes flashes when unlocked and sometimes does not flash. Can be within the period of the same day, 1 hour or only 1 minute. :? :? At first I also thought it was a voltage thing. But try it, no flash, try it no flash, open doors, bonnets, bash and crash, try it yes flash :D , try it again no flash. If it was a voltage thing, then opening doors and bring on the interior light does not help the voltage.

I have noticed that when I disconnect the batteries to do stuff, the behaviour of the flashing does change, so this definitely has something to do with it. :?

In the end I just gave up on it and put it down to somebodies gone nuts in my car with a pair of wire cutters and a soldering iron and I'm getting feed back from somewhere somehow  but if others are doing it too, then maybe Toyota has something to answer to
Cheers Rod
