Hi All,

Well i finally met William from New Pro , last night at my house as he hadn delivered some HID kits as ive been busting to change mine over from the XPS brand i had , that werent digitals.

The whole install for hi and lo in the DEPOS i have took 3 hours, but thats because i wanted to properly attached all ballasts etc to the sides of the engine bay, in anycase, his products are brilliant,

FYI ive got 6000K LOW 35 W and 6000K 55W highs, testing will be tonight.

I can highly reccomend New Pro ! i will uploads some pics later today or tonight.

Cheers

Heres the answer :)

http://www.newpro-tech.com.au/index.html

One thing i made sure of was that all terminals connecting to the battery were all Soldered after crimping, that ensures perfect contact as ive always thought there could be a loss of voltage with just crimping

My .02 of course !

Digital HID (DHID) ballasts
A digital HID (DHID) lamp ballast is an electronic ballast that uses a microprocessor to control and regulate a High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp. The firmware can provide control algorithms to supply varying lamp currents during start-up and during lamp operation. The firmware controls the initial voltage strike to the bulb to start it and then controls current in the bulb for the most efficient burning of the lamp.[citation needed]
The main benfits of the Digital HID ballast are: saving of electrical energy and maintenance costs over magnetic ballast HID lamps; automatic loss-of-lumen compensation as the lamp ages; produces up to 40% more lumens per watt than magnetic ballasts; increased life expectancy of the lamp compared to magnetic ballast; DHID ballast generates less heat, reducing air conditioning energy cost; 50% dimming of incoming power produces additional cost savings, with automatically controlled lamp dimming in unoccupied areas.[citation needed]
DHID ballasts can be used to upgrade existing lamp installations. In a retrofit, the DHID ballast can replace the existing magnetic ballast. The rest of the fixture is reused, and the magnetic ballast can be recycled.

This sound to be on the mark to me they are of cause talking about industrial lighting like you would find in large factories, shopping centers and alike. I suppose with the price of electricity at the moment they would save a packet. I know all the hydroponic growers are moving to digital ballast for the same reasons.

But in the automotive world the advantages are a bit different.
The new digital system is just the latest technology in HID lighting. The old systems are simply being replaced by digital why ? Smaller size, stable voltage output , almost zero electromagnetic interference, low defective rate, quicker start up time, brighter and are a lot more robust as far as high temperatures, water, dust, vibrations go.
To put simple if your where going to buy a HID kit you would be mad to buy anything but Digital unless it was an affordability factor.

I would say it is more hype as all the new HID ballasts are theoretically digital, same as all DVD and CD player are digital.

Digital is not new technology, just a different way of doing things.

In a commercial application there would be hugh benefits regarding energy usage, cost of light replacement and light stability but in an automotive situation these things would have little to no impact.

So yes it's more hype then useful fact.

And Tunnel rat is spot on with his thoughts.

Sorry about opening a can of worms!

Basically yes, just let him know when you place your order.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!
