Hi All,

Does anyone know what the Dash globes are ? or pulled em out or made a change ? im thinking of turning it all to electric blue the same as the Vw's , I found that NARVA make replacement globes for all colours and manufacturers.

Iv changed the covers to my globes in the center console form green to red then to blue but the blue isnt very good,

Check my build thread to c the difference, but i guess if you change the globes completly you'll be right,

Please keep me informed on how you go as id be interested on how what you end up with.

its pretty easy, you just got pull the whole ac controls apart just be sure you know what ur doin as its a little fiddely.

If your really keen you can pull apart the rear window demister switch apart and change that bulb too, and dont for get the ash tray bulb, youll have to remove the green visor thou

Well this is about a year old now, Just wondering how the installs went, how hard it was and if anyone had any photos? I looked a diegothecat's build and there was one in there.

Don't they use a backing on all the transparent pieces? this will make it green anyway, putting a blue bulb in will yield results similar to what you have.
I did this in my commodore and declared that I wasn't going to do it ever again lol.

yea i got blue silicone covers too and they dont do it any justice but i think its a bit better than standard.

I couldnt find any other brand other than Narva that make a silicone sleeve, if only you could replace the bulbs to blue led's im sure that would do it but trying to source the bulbs that will be the hard part.

You can replace the bulbs in the console area with LEDS. Im pretty sure there is a company called 'newlightworld' which you can get auto bulbs from in any colour. But the dash lights have soldered LEDs on the circuit board. They can be replaced but trying to solder them out and back in your gonna need a sturdy hand. I wanted to upgrade my workmate LEDs to a more whiter brighter set like the SR5's or even go blue

Parr LED's you can get in any decent shop that sells electronic components or your local ebay I guess. I bought mine in a shop few blocks from my home. The installation is very simple, you just have to remove few parts to be able to take out the buttons. Here's a picture

Image

The tricky parts:
- lighter globe is a one part thing - to change it for a LED you need to crush the globe and drill it out to make space for a LED so it looks like this

Image

- those LED have slightly different shape so they don't fit exactly ( especially headlight positioning button )
- LEDs are +/- sensitive so when it doesn't work u need to change it's position
-I had to add two leds in the center of the dash as the heating console was partially dark so instead of 2 in factory points I have two more on the outer ends

I still have to change the colour of the radio but it's beyond my abilities . I need someone to do that for me. When i will be removing radio unit to do this I will also take out the clock to change it's colour too.

And here's how it looks atm

Image

Picture quality isn't the best but it looks ok in reality ;)

cheers
