Cranker has run out of puff

Cranker has run out of puff

Postby Macca on Tue, 17 Mar 2009 11:35 +0000

My battery started losing charge, especially noticed it last weekend, charged it with the batt charger on Sunday, had trouble starting today.

Slow to turn over, had it tested. Held 400amps for about 8 seconds then fell away. Auto bloke thought it was OK and started to wind the amps back when it just ran out of puff.....lucky

3 years last November and 95000km.

A sacrificial Item

Wont need to service the winch now, it was sluggish when I used it at work a couple of weeks back.

Will probably spin like top now

Yeah Macca. Mine was coming up on 4 years and 140000km. With an outback trip coming up later this year I decided to swap out before it left me stranded.

New AGM Odyssey battery with 850cca all ready for my winch install later this year. Bloody exxy though

I just replaced mine with a new Century N7077 4WD (heavy duty) and it is worse than the 2 yr old one I replaced it with. I have an Engel permanently mounted on the tray and it runs 24/7. In 2 yrs I only had 1 flat battery after a 30deg night. This new battery goes flat after 4hrs!. I think I got a dud. Tracking down the Century rep has been a challenge.
Is it wrong to love your truck this much?
