Slimline AGM behind back seat?

Slimline AGM behind back seat?

Postby rivmasta on Mon, 08 Aug 2022 9:48 +0000

Hey all, Ive got a 2008 dual cab. Can you fit a slimline AGM behind the back seat? The kickass version is 112mm wide and i'd prefer to use a tray which will probably add a bit more.

Any mods required? Has anyone actually done it (rather than than thier mates girlfriends brother in law has done it) and if so how did you mount it. My kids are in the back seat a fair bit - dont fancy a 30kg battery coming loose in a bingle.

Im not fussed about being able to drop the seat after. It'll just be set and forget.
Cheers.

Patriot Games TV did one in Ashton's FJ Build if you don't get any answers elsewhere. Nearly no room behind that seat either, they might have a tip or two for you?

Cheers mate.

I did some digging today - seems like a pain in the ass to do, moving seat and chopping mounts etc. I'll make up a box out of marine ply and mount it in the tub.

Yep - tub is your best shot at 112mm
Ive got a slimline Lithium battery which is 120mmW - far too wide to fit behind the seat without significant modification.

Others might get away with an ultra slim 60mm wide like this:

But then some may not be comfortable having a LiP0 battery in cab

Not sure about the later models, but in my 2004 there's plenty of room underneath the vehicle. Fuel tank drivers side nothing on passenger side. Plenty of room forward from the spare tyre under the tub as well. Just remember to put sturdy "Bash Plate" style protection there as well.
