Switch Illumination

Postby Sentri on Fri, 13 Aug 2021 12:05 +0000

Hi All,

I have a 2014 (MY 2015) SR5 Dual Cab Diesel. I noticed the other night that the panel on the right hand side of the vehicle with the mirror controls and dash illumination controls doesn't illuminate like the rest of the dashboard does when the lights are turned on.

Did a search of the forum and found this post from ages ago with the same question. Didn't get any responses though: https://www.newhilux.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10536&p=144240&hilit=Switch+Illumination#p144240

Is this normal on this year Hilux?

Thanks,

Mine is an older model and doesn't have these capabilities, however I've driven newer models and they do not seem to have the capability. I think possibly because it would mean running extra wires (for the lights) out to the doors, probably something the design engineers didn't think of??? Maybe some of the even MORE newer models have this stuff? I dunno.

I just checked and my 2013 sr5 has no lighting in the door switches and the mirror/dimmer panel on the lower dash has none either. Hadn't noticed before but my other 2 Toyota's do have lights.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.
