Dash Cluster Speedo getting stuck after disassembly??

Dash Cluster Speedo getting stuck after disassembly??

Postby LHooley on Fri, 05 Mar 2021 6:41 +0000

2015 SR5 - AUTOMATIC

I recently did a job to resolder the pins on a dash cluster to fix a fuel gauge thats getting stuck at 1/4

After doing the job the guy I did the work for recently pointed out that the speedo jams up when he is letting it coast on the road. Ive done plenty of these fixes but this is the first i've heard of it?

I did a gps speedo check if the speed was the same as the car and it seemed ok.

The Speedo does seem a bit slow to go down. Or does this take time to go down again?

And now he's trying to pin me for a new speedo

Does this seem weird to anyone?

Did you remove and replace in the car .
If they removed and replace did they damage it.
Have you compared it to a another car.
Did you get payed for the job.
Did any oil or dirt get in.
Can they prove it was not doing it before you started working on the car.
How was all the connections.

When you take money doing repairs you have to take some responsibility as you leave yourself open.

If you are being paid to work on other peoples cars then you should have insurance, this is exactly what the small claims court will tell you just before they order you to replace or repair the instrument.
They will always rule in favour of the customer.

You may now be starting to understand why auto sparkies charge so much.

If he wasnt paying you to do the repair means he was happy to let you do it, his gamble not yours.
