hey guys,

Had to take the battery out of the hilux the other day, when my brother put it back in i dont no wat he did but he said that once he started car and heard a pop. went to havea look and all lights are out, radio, indicators and power windows. i have checked the fuses and the radio was blown and that was it.

i was wondering if anyone knew wat else could be wrong. should i just disconnect battery for 15min or so to restart the computer?

thanks bondy

Check the body earth next the the battery. I have heard of them being knocked out when the battery is put back in. Runs from the negative wire to the inside of the body under the bonnet.

I remember a mates being smashed out by the battery which wasn't clamped properly after hitting a curb at speed.

A bit obvious but worth a look.

Failing that check underbonnet fuses, dash fuses and the main feed to each of the fuse boxes.

PM me if you are still having dramas and I will give you some other options.
If you can speak and write thank a teacher. Because it is still in English thank a soldier!

I thought the same, what else could it be?

Assuming all the cables are connected, a minor cable hasn't got left off. The "pop" is a worry though.

Up behind the fuse panel near the drivers right knee there are a couple of main fuses, that can only be accessed by certain people, with long skinny fingers.

They are the green square type fuses, and they arent in the fuse panel, but are sort of above it in behind the plastic, a real bugger to get to.

I have done a couple, and now carry a spare after getting caught with no air cond, no fan, no pwer windows on a hot day and having to drive 40kms for assistance. The reason mine blew were poorly installed accessories on a Minesite type ute.

Cheers
