Hi im new on here.. I’m hoping someone may be able to help me with a problem I have!
I have a 2013 2.5d4d with a battery light on its had a new battery and alternator which is charging ok but still the light is on..
There’s 4 wires on the plug on the alternator I’m not sure what they all do?
When it’s unplugged the light goes out. I did find a broken wire near the plug when I fitted the alternator which has been repaired but still light on?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Have the new alternator tested. The warning light control part of the reg can fail while it still charges.
What sort of alternator did you put in? The OEX one with a "U"at the end has to be configured properly before fitting.

I’ve tried 2 different aftermarket ones on it as I thought maybe it was a fault with the new alternator..

Have a new plug professionally put on. Sometimes can bus can sense shit solder jobs, then it will whinge about Ohms variation.

Just found a another broken wire half way down the loom repaired and light went straight out! Thanks for the help

Well done. FYI the alternator is not can bus in that model. If the ecm has any input it will just be an analogue switch to reduce the voltage output at times. It has its own temp compensating circuit.

Where abouts was the break?

I’d say the break was about 10 inches into the loom from the alternator
