attention central locking gurus

Postby bazma on Sun, 16 Jun 2019 6:50 +0000

g'day all
about 6 weeks ago i made a dumb mistake and drowned my phone......unfortunately it was on my passenger seat at the time
i got out of it pretty lightly with a second hand turbo controller and ECU all reprogrammed with the G-Scan at work.
one problem persists and is doing my head in, so reaching out for your help
central locking does not respond at all......keys don't activate doors, switch on drivers door is non responsive, key in drivers door only opens drivers door, not passenger door also as it is supposed to
there is power to the door control module, all fuses have been checked, all relays have been checked
have done hard reset with G-SCAN (both methods) tried looking for the issue with TECH1 (toyota scanner) and also done hard reset with pin method..........all to no avail
have tried a new door control module........no success either
it has 3 smart guys in our workshop and the local toyota dealer stumped

i just want my central locking to work as it is playing havoc with my OCD haha

to the person who solves my issue i offer free guide to all our secret spots up here that we dont tell the tourists about :D

vehicle is a 2012 KUN26 SR single cab

Okay, all fuse boxes checked
Has the alternator been checked?
Did you remove either of the seats after the drowning?
Check seat belt plugs under each seat are connected and working
Check all connections in drivers side kick panel

Seeing you have replaced the ECU with 2nd hand

Hope this helps.

You may need to contact your Toyota tech for that process if not already done.
Sounds like you have gone thru all the right processes but just one thing missing

Addit:
How far up did the water come?
Sounds like the car runs fine and no fault codes however has the certification ECU behind the dash been checked for water ingress?

Moved to gen 7 section

thanks for the response
all fuses checked multiple times
alternator all good (i've been driving it for 8 weeks since my adventure) it actually did a 10 day trip to kalumburu 7 days after the event
seats were removed and all connections have been checked multiple times
all relays, fuses and connections in both kick panels have been checked.
from my understanding if too many keys are programmed the door switch should still work

it is as if there is NO central locking fitted to the vehicle

i worked for toyota for 27 years, so aware of the processes. i have a good relationship with the guys at the local dealer but it has them stumped also
depth.....put it this way i was chest deep in water in the drivers seat, passenger side was about 10cm up the window. yes it was deep
everything else works fine and functions and as i said 7 days later i took it to kalumburu.
unbreakable hilux..........im a believer but just wish my central locking still worked (sigh)

No worries bazma
Chest deep!!!? FARRRQ! :o Which crossing was that?
Great the mighty lux is still going strong 8-)
Theres gotta be a good story and some pics to go with that :D

You got a lot more experience in your court there mate.
So many possible causes given the water depth...
Might be something simple - do all the door switches make the interior light come on?
As I understand, central locking will not work unless each door switch is operational
Assuming the key fob went under as well but is working
Bloody good management to only have the central locking not working - yet

Wow Bazma, I would love to see the pics also. I thought this year's wet was meant to be pretty poor, you obviously found somewhere which had a good soaking. Glad to hear you got out safely without the lizards getting to you.

it was a little local spot in the Carr Boyd Ranges
when we dragged it out we got the chairs out and had lunch while deciding the action plan, and not 40 minutes later a 90 series prado did exactly the same thing which made me feel better
and i certainly feel better than the 200 series sahara that went in over the roof 2 weeks ago
unfortunately too busy recovering to even think of any pics

have eliminated key issues as spare key wasnt affected and regardless of keys, lock button on drivers door should still function

hilux was running by 9am next morning after finishing recovery and tow back to town at 10pm and has since done a 10 day kalumburu trip and a few days on the Bullita Stock Route in NT
uhf radio, redarc tow pro, hema navigator and touch screen gps in dash all recovered, phone and camera died so i got off pretty lightly
