I see that the Redarc site has these brackets available for sale again......it isn't saying "Out of Stock", at least.
I made mine from an old road sign....2.1mm aluminium.....cost?...free.....rivnuts?....a couple of dollars.
Great fun making this. I've got a drawing that's under development with the prospect of getting a local laser cutting business to knock a few of these out. I'll see what the costings come in at before I commit to a production run.

They dont really need that much cooling, they are very efficient and dont get very hot. If they needed cooling to that extent they would have finned heatsinks. I have mine mounted in the well under the back seat and has been working well for several years.

G'Day MV :)

I have had a dual batt. setup with a 'REDARC SBI12 Battery Charger/Starter' for years.

But ( there is always a But ), now I want to add panels onto the roof and charge the batteries.

If you put on your Auto. Elec. hat for a moment, would you install a 1225D to manage the panel charging ?

There are a lot more buts to that than u think.
An sbi12 is simply an isolator, so if you stick with flooded type hybrid batteries they work ok on earlier vehicles but if you want to step up to a calcium or agm deep cycle then you could leave the sbi12 there and use the solar to top up the battery the last 20 or so percent. BUT if you want the car to be able to completely charge a deep cycle then a BCDC unit of some sort is needed.
I use a redarc bcdc1225lv but run a victron 75/15for solar so i can use higher voltage panels which i find more efficient.

which gives a great explanation of getting the AGM's 'full' and why you need a BCDC especially if you are using a panel with AGM etc.

I started with a AGM ( I think the heat of SA summer got to it ) as the 2nd bat. & now I have been using Lead Acid 2nd and 'refreshing' them when I drag too much out in one session, so I always have lit. banks in the tub if the 2nd lead acid goes bad before we get home.

It looks like they have cracked the re-charging of lithium so a 10 min. charge gives 300kms in elec. car if they raise the temp to 60Deg. while charging this stops the cracking of the neg. post from "plate-like deposits".

But, not that again !!!

It can only ever achieve max. of 80% charge in 10 min. :(
