Custom 12V system went wrong :D

Hi All,
Just the quick one, it drives me nuts! I bought a BCDC1225D from Redarc and Victron BMV-700 monitoring. The strange thing is that the BMV 1A load but there is nothing connected yet and the battery goes flat in like 5 days, so there is some constant load right? Also, the battery does not charge while driving, BMV showing 14.34V but when I switch back to Amp load it still showing -1A.

I did draw a diagram of how the setup is connected and I cannot make it work, no load but BMV show there is 1A and battery is not charge by an alternator. WORTH to mention is that at the front I do have Redarc solenoid connected

I have tried as per Redarc manual

As well as per Vitron setup

Any suggestions would be great :)

Not trying to be smart, but have you called Redarc? They have a great free technical service available during business hours. My auto-electrician was having a difficulty and called them and they did all the diagnosis over the phone and helped resolve the issue.

If I’m reading the first diagram correctly, looks like the REDARC is switching the positive straight to earth? Surely the 70A breaker would trip in this situation. And therefore not charge the second battery when the engine is running (because the breaker is tripped).

What is the rectangle with the 4 circles in it?
Is that a busbar or terminal block?

How did you get on with Redarc?

I’ve had another look cos I’m a bit curious.
Based on Redarc diagram I’ll assume the 1225 doesn’t switch the positive to earth like your diagram shows. I’m also curious to see how the solenoid you say is up front is connected in?

Redarc diagram:

Your diagram doesn’t show the blue connected, would that help?

Few q’s on your diagram:
Doesn’t look like there’s a fuse between the six battery and the load +, so hope this is very close and mechanically protected.

What size wire are you running between the two batteries? With 150A fuses, your wires should be rated to probably 170A or more, which is 70mm2 or 00 gauge I think. Pretty damn big for a 25A charger.
