2012 SR5 UHF Power Issue

2012 SR5 UHF Power Issue

Postby Skrewdriver on Tue, 13 Nov 2018 3:00 +0000

Hello,

I am looking for any qualified auto electricians here on the forums if they are able to help me with my 2012 SR5. I would like to them to diagnose as to why my Uniden UHF is always cutting in and out as far as the power goes, I have an idea (dodgy connection somewhere), but I have had two “auto sparkys” look at it, and no one seems to be able to fix it, and I do not feel confident enough in myself to fix it myself.

I am located in the Maitland area, but I am willing to travel to you.

I am willing to pay for your time, but I am also a firm believer in the beer economy.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Dont rule out an intermittent internal fault.

Try a temporary power supply from cig lighter or other power point. If it continues, UHF fault.

UPDATE:

Thank you for the help, I finally got of my arse and had a auto sparky look at the issue for me at work, and it turned out to be the ground wire plug had broken off and was just flapping around and making intermittent contact, hence the power was dropping in and out.

1.5 hours later and a six pack of Extra Dry, problem solved.
