Halo lights go off when A/C clutch engages

Halo lights go off when A/C clutch engages

Postby Burb122 on Fri, 13 Apr 2018 3:16 +0000

Hi guys, hopefully I can pick your brains and get some help

I’ve installed aftermarket headlights on my Hilux. They have halo rings and led DRL strip across the bottom.

I have used the park light circuit to power the Halos, so they are only on when I choose.
And I’ve powered the DRL’s direct from the battery. So they are always on.

My problem is when I have the Aircon going and the halos on, when ever the a/c compressor comes online and the clutch engages the halos on the RH light drop off. And come back on when the clutch disengages.

Any ideas how the a/c circuit would be sucking power from the park light circuit???

Are they from mars performance. If so they are just a shitty driver. Any slight spike in voltage they will cut out to protect themselves.
I have had so many dramas. Even rewired them so they are there own seperate circuit.
They are getting worse too, I have to turn them on and off 4-5 times until they fire up.
They will start at about 70% brightness for a second and then either turn on properly or cut out.

Haha I’m not sure where they are from here is a link to what they look like though.

Was yours also doing the same during aircon operation?

The DRL's must be wired to either turn off or dim when the headlight switch is turned on. You'll probably find your setup is illegal otherwise, plus possibly blinding for oncoming traffic after dusk.

The DRLs are compliant. It’s wired/triggered to dim.
And the halos throw no focused light. Just ambient

So so we agree it’s just voltage drop
