Water in Head Lights

Just wondering if any one has had water in there head lights after doing a water crossing. Recentling I passed through a short but fairly deep crossing. Then next day I noticed the lenses all fogged up and what looked like condensation on the inside of both lights. Three weeks on they still haven't dryed out. Is it a matter of pulling the globes out and leaving it in the sun to dry out or even drilling a small hole in the bottom corner of the lense to act as a drain (like an old Holden)??????????????? Is this a common proplem and what are peoples thoughts on repair methods

Cheers Cameron

I had it once only to discover that the body of the light was cracked. Have a close look.

If you have bought the vehicle second hand you will find that it was probably involved in an accident and the panel shop put in lights from thailand. these lights are not water tight. you can tell by looking at the top of the lights body, if it doesn't toyota on them then they are not genuine. If they do there must be a leak somewhere.

yeah ive had water in my drivers side lower fog light twice now.. first time it half filled up, so i drained it, but it discoloured (read BLACK) all the reflective silver surface, so i replaced it with a thailand style one, and same thing happened again, this time i quickly removed, drained and dried it out, then siliconed around the globe entry point (water was getting past the rubber o-ring) and havent had a problem since..

yes it will dry out but as soon as it cools down it will be there again.....very hard to get out.

when I got my hilux swamped last year, half the headlight was full of water as was the lioghtforce spotlight.....they dried out the spotlight and replaced the headlight with a new one.
