Ignition barrel removal?

Ignition barrel removal?

Postby lerroy on Sun, 10 Sep 2017 9:15 +0000

Hi all

I have a really worn key on a SR 2007, it wasn't turning the barrel. Unfortunately only have one key, I went to get another cut from the Vin no. but the previous owner looks to have changed the barrel.

The locksmiths did me a wet key copy of the less worn side so I'm able to now turn too ACC (after a bit of contact cleaner in the barrel)

I want to remove the barrel to take to locksmiths. Just having trouble locating the push pin so it's able to be removed.

Anyone have any ideas?

From my Gregory's repair manual:

1 Turn ignition key to ACC position
2 Use a small screwdriver or pick to depress the key lock cylinder release button.

Hope it's the info you need.
