2012 hilux head unit

Recently the head unit in my 2012 hilux (touch screen sat nav model) started playing up.


Basicly it works fine like cd Bluetooth music etc etc just the right half of the touch screen doesn't work properly I press a button and it doesn't press or I need to press like 3cm to its right etc to make it touch the button I want.

Is seem like screen calibration is off. Isn't here way to adjust, fix or format the unit back to original?

do you have a copy of the manual? It is rather large and may have it in there, I haven't got time to look but I do have a copy saved if you need it.

Sorry guys I forgot all about this thread. So this is still happening and it is also happening on our 2013 hilux. I have checked through the book which Toyota supply with the car and it has nothing about this problem or how to re calibrate this.

Pretty common fault from what I hear. A mate of mine had no head unit for months in his 14 model, Toyota refused to replace it and rather sent it away to be repaired. Even no it's still not 100%. Do yaself a favour and get a nice aftermarket one in there. Everything will work better and it'll even sound nicer.

I just changed my 2012 headunit and if you decide to go down that path, I really recommend the kenwood ddx917ws. It is Toyota specific, works, looks and sounds great.

Thanks, so was it straight plug and play? Do the steering wheel buttons still work?

Yep it is plug and play. Since it is Toyota specific it comes with the necessary adapters, the steering wheel functions all work and you may even reconfigure the steering wheel functions to do other things. For instance volume up on steering wheel could answer the phone.

All up it took me 45 minutes to install, very easy.

Getting one of these fitted on Monday (919WS) as the original unit has the weird calibration issue - really annoying plus it's almost 8 yrs old and can't be fixed apparently..I'm getting the sound place to fit it as I'm a complete nonce at this sort of stuff...did you also get the reverse camera installed? I've got one in the rear view mirror and kinda like it there - got used to it..
