Factory Cruise Control for SR D4D Auto

Patton, have a look ~5 cm above and in front (towards the driver) of the ignition-key barrel.

it's the point just behind where the steering wheel turns. Actually this connector is connected to a special wire that is IN the rotating part of the steering to get all controls in the steering wheel wired)

Your picture seems to be way lower under the steering wheel (fusebox etc)

This is the location. The plug is hanging just beneath as I connected my own wires to measure.
The white wire in my own setup is where you'll find a white-black. Just o be clear, on the left you see the steeringwheel

Just to be sure :) I assume it's the language making the difficulty. If you're that unfamilliar with wires consider having someone else do this for you.

All good :)
just wanted to make clear that you do things on your risk, I'm helping to the best of my knowledge but cutting the wrong wire isn't something I can prevent from here :D :D

Have a look at the steering column (like shown above) if you find the white-black and green wire you are most likely good to go. If these wires aren't there some more testing is required.

Patton, as I've never opened the steering wheel I wouldn't know.
It might be that it's just a needed earth.

makes sense, so that would inquire more work.

1st measure if it's an earth
2nd cut it from the plug and wire it to the cruise controls earth in the stalk-loom. Then the work on the white-black would be extra important to make sure that earth is good. On the other hand... if that earth is already used there is a big chance the white-black is already a good earth..

No earth on the blue wire.
The only wire white and black is this one

I plug the stalk without doing anything else and didnt work. So i may try to earth the white/black in case that the one that i founded is the right one

Patton, That black n white wire is another one :).

You need to find the plugs that go to the steering wheel.
Do you have audio or other buttons on the steering wheel? If so then there should be wires going from behind the steering wheel into the steering wheel trough a special thing that van handle the turning of the wheel.

AH wait I can see the location. On the left of the foto there is a yellow plug, you can find the same yellow plug on my foto! next to that is a black plug where you should find the green en white-black wire. If not there you would have to do quite a bit more work.

hey Patton,

Based on the photo's I can only assume it's the black above the yellow as that seems to enter the steeringwheel unit.
However Which wires to pick (IF they are even there) is something I can't tell without measuring the whole fcking stuff.

Measure 2 pins in the wheel and the pins in the black plug. Then you need to find a way to wire it to the ecu. IF the green cable is already there you should be able to find that same wire in the black plug above the yellow.

You'd need a multimeter with BEEP on connection in order to do so. This is quite basic measuring, if not comfortable doing so find some help on that :)

As all you have is different from my car (different plugs at the wheel, different ecu) there isn't much I can do that isn't already described in the topic.

I'm guessing they should be on the bottom left of the black plug in this picture. as the plug is installed rotated 90 degrees Left it means in the empty holes in the top left of the black plug.
(that's where the connections in my car went to from the stalk on the steering)

I see no wires there. to bad I'm affraid. You might choose the hard way (as I did) and try and install all the wireing to the ECU yourself, I'm affraid however there is a danger of damaging things that are WAY more expensive than a addon cruise control :(

Hi Guys,

2010 SR Hilux Duel Cab / 3.0L Turbo Diesel (Aus)

I purchased the indicator stalk from ebay.
Removed the steering wheel cover, plug was present so I fitted the cruise control stalk and plugged into existing plug under the steering wheel cover.
As per pictures provided earlier in the thread. Removed the steering wheel column covers and earthed out the black and white wire coming off the black of the steering wheel.

Went out for test drive and no indication that the stalk is working in any way shape or form. After seeking help from another forum member I went to inspect his hilux with supposedly the exact same setup, the only difference that we could notice was that I seemingly don't have any clutch switch.

My question is do I need it? If I do how should I go about fitting and wiring one up?
