for me it was another pin and it gave power, nevertheless cruise wasn't available.

BTW IF e5-21 is already wired (green I believe) it's likely just adding the stalk to the steering wheel (~29$ on ebay) and giving it a good earth in the steering column...

page 195 should help you to find the pins on the ECU, with a bit of luck all is wired (which I exect as the wire that leaves the steering column should go somewhere :P

Hey guys I have read through this a few times but need help.

I can't tell if I just need to order the $30 stalk and I will be good to go or if my ECU is even capable of providing cruise control. It's a 2006 3.0 turbo diesel Manual.

What numbers am I looking for on the ECU to verify?

noone can give 100% assurance, a good indication seems possible twentyfoursyc,

Post a picture of the ECU and the information written on the side. However most 3.0 liters are good to go.
Easier: remove the steering column if you have already the black-white wire is't likely plugn play (maybe improve earth)

I cant help you much. Just check if you have the same ECU than me and the same wires.
I will try as soon as the stalk comes. Also i bought the stalk for 10€ so take your time and look better in alliedexpress

If the stalk for some reason doesn't work drop me a line, you can measure the working of the stalk quite easy (with an Ohm meter)

Feels a bit odd sharing all the gathered information while it seems I'm the only one with an 2.5L KD-FVT2 EURO-5 Cruise Incapable ECU   (6 plugs instead of 5)

patton, the writeup of vh5000i matches exactly with all the pictures and information on this thread. This writeup might be exactly your procedure ;)

Or just install and ground the black-white line in the steering column :)

Ok, received. I will try to install it this weekend. But first of all can you xychix explain in easy english what i have to do with the white and black wire After pluging the stalk in the steering wheel. I ubderstood that i have to take another wire and find a ground place to connect it. Right?

I don't know how to mount the handle...
I've red:
You have to open the steering wheel and connect it so the wires go trough the turning point to the steering column (the not turning part of the steering system :D )

When mounted.... first TEST the cruise, it might just work!

if it doesn't work:
If you open the steering column (take of the plastic cover that goed around the ingintion barrel, where you pu the key :) :) ) in there you hopefully find a white-black wire, this wire needs to be a good ground (connect to frame or other ground wire, usually black). This means you have to remove the plastic of the wire a bit and connect (solder?) an wire in there and connect that new wire to ground.

Bad bud easy solution.... connect the white black wire to the black wire that is already close using such a splice clamb: (can buy in any automotive shop)
Image
I HATE those things as the always damage the inner wire a little.

Test again, it should work :)

The BLACK wire on the same connector in the steering column IS a ground
the BLACK-WHITE needs to be ground.

1 - connect black & black-white to each other with a ugly splice clamb
OR (not and) OR:
2 - strip black-white cable and give it it's own ground (any solid bare metal should do)

If you don't mind the splice clambs that's the fastest and easiest by FAR. (<5 minutes including opening and closing the steering column)
