Yeah trailer plug would be a good place to check....
Also, I'm in moorooka, happy to check it out as I am both a sparky with many years automotive experience

Well, its not the trailer lights although the wiring needs to be re done due to scuffs and other damage.

One wire off the 10A cct short to ground...

Green with a white strip and one silver dot.

Traced to one of the ECU boxes; but the cct diagram says a relay? If the coil was short, this would cause the problem....

But due to the time of day etc. we called it quits. Cut the wire and got the 10A fuse in and all OK from that side of things...

Fingers crossed it is a cheep and simple fix... Maybe a small relay on the board... could be replaced Vs a new board ?

Thanks again mate really appreciated :)
Will make the rest of the job a lot easier.
Be buggered if I can find any info on these ecus or even what that ecu does.
Just hoping that ecu doesn't effect the injectors or ignition etc if replaced

From what I can see that wire in question is is common to the input contact and the positive side of the coil so degraded varnish on the coil could cause a short that would pop the fuse.... however I am looking at a diagram that shows daytime running lamp relay in the circuit which I know would not be on a 2009 vehicle.

What's the relay for? What circuit?

Doubt the relay winding will be the problem, the wind is so fine in those if they short to ground the winding wire blows way before 10 amp fuse would pop.

you need to find out what that control unit runs, what doesn't work?

It's the biggest of the 3 ecu boxes u see the dash which as far as I can work out is the engine ecu.
It's just the parkers and dash lights not working.

sorry, I thought you had isolated the wire with the short.

I'm still waiting too lol
Doesn't appear to be in the ecu as the sparky cut the wire at the ecu and the problem is still there.
He seems to think it's that wire directly but one of the ones it branches off to.
I'm dropping it off again Friday so I guess I'll see what they can find.

Stupid question but have you physically checked the parker filaments?

I've unplugged basically everything I can find related to that circuit.
Including plugs in the fuse box which Is how mark worked out it was the wire in question.
I've got another idea tomorrow, fingers crossed...

BTW I can't believe what a good bunch of blokes are on here, all willing to help a random in distress :p
It really is appreciated :)

So the wire in question with nothing attached pops the fuse? Sounds like its rubbed through somewhere, did mark check resistance between it and the chassis?

The Green with a white stripe and single silver dash was disconnected from the plug that connects to the fuse box and connector distribution board.

I measures 0.1 to 0.2 to ground....

We traced at least one end to an ECU board, and then ran out of time..

The drawing we had suggested straight to the Tail Light relay - hence a shorted Coil or something going to ground.

However without more time to disconnect any plugs with Green with a white stripe and single silver dash wire and re checking to see which one is short, we were unable to progress...

Thus the fuse in back in and the Green with a white stripe and single silver dash is disconnected at the output. Hence what ever is going to ground is out of cct. We did try with all connectors to the rear disconnected... But with out a true wiring diag, hard to know what else might be on that cct... Or if some one has added to something to that cct..

Having invested a few HR's I just want to know what the cause / problem is..

Tail light fuse / Green with a white stripe and single silver dash = No Tail light and Dash lights ?

So after all day at the auto spark they found a short right near the fuse box and a short at the number plate light...
Hopefully when they put it back together tomorrow it's all good :|

Nasty, as we also found some of the wiring had suffered abrasions... So a good chance there was at least 3 or 4 shorts in play at the one time...
