Deoends on your application
Whether your truck is for towing, daily city warrior, for trailing, etc etc

For me I never use chips or any remapping modules, I like using stock tune with bolt on powah l..

A 3" full exhaust will give you free power gains and lower egt

Also im using water injection also gives power but I mainly use it for hot weathers and smooths out acceleration..

HKS F-Con iD or Unichip. They piggy back the ECU, allowing you to properly tune and get the most out of the engine, and control throttle response, boost, etc. They're tuned on a dyno so they're more suited specifically for your vehicle rather than just a chip too, and can support later mods like turbo upgrades etc.

They'd be your best bet.

Depending on how much you want to spend and do.. the biggest gain i've seen is 303rwhp on a D4D with proper turbo upgrades, exhaust, HKS, etc - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20220&hilit=justautos.
Cheers,
Jay

Reliably is paramount for me so I have no engine mods, cut my stock muffler out ($80) and had a very slight power increase but a wicked throaty sound, have a sprint booster arriving in the mail any day now so will post some results here. A safe chip that doesn't raise rail pressure will POSSIBLY be on the cards when I'm out of warranty, but I'm yet to decide. A re-gear due to my larger tyres would be a better option, my D4D with stock cheese cutters and no bar work was perfect when I drove it out of toyota, but I need to plant that money tree first :D

Best mod - put a V8 in it.
Most popular mod - 3" exhaust and chip.

whats the best power mods?

What every you choose.
Own your mod!
If you know it could damage your motor own that fact.
Don't blame the product as I see time and time again
Toyota now require pics of injector pins and rail and map sensor pins

I see it all too often people bagging toyota but not owning the modifications they do.

In saying that. Drive and respect it all would be good.

Ok rant over.
I only say this because today we had to prove a chip was fitted to a damaged motor in of which we did and then the customer come clean. But all the way up to the hard evidence. (( I have not fitted a chip)) was the answer.

Sorry. It just bugs me.

It's hardly substantial evidence. Plugs can get taken apart for a number of reasons I would have thought. Especially when it comes to fault finding and general/associated maintenance.

go hks for power and reliability it basically tunes everything in the motor. just autos made a lux at stock do like 165rwhp on 33s, and did one with a gtx turbo, upgraded injectors, bosch supply pump, upgraded clutch, and front mount intercooler it did 303rwhp on 33s and 328rwhp with NOs

What are we looking at boxy? Injector connector? I don't like chips etc either, I'm with you, just curious what you go by, what hard proof there is etc.

In relation to the injector pic there are 2 distinct scratch lines this is what toyota deems 2nd connection.

I know whit diagnosis you have to connect and disconnect plugs but there will always only be one pin scratch mark.

This mark location is owned by toyota.

Now when you plug say a chip plug on it, the connection scratches the pin in a different location.

This is hard evidence of a secondary connection.

Tech evidence is stored in the computer as freeze frame data.
When a fault is logged, so is the data at the point.
Disconnecting the battery or chip does not clear this data.

Again please this is just for your advice

I am not anti chip!

Just own your modification!!

Yeah knew about freeze frame data etc. Never knew about different marks on the pins. You're right though, got to take ownership of mods you make.

HKS is a piggy back ecu which adjusts, injector duration and pulse width, rail pressure, boost, throttle position and couple of other things. it also can run water meth systems and watches out for error codes and keeps and eye on coolant temps
