You may have torn a sensor wire off at or around the wheels
Or your brake fluid level is low.
Also if you have no brake light ( check to see they come on) you could have blown the 10 amp fuse which will cause the same problems.

Hope this helps

Brilliant thankyou, just checked brake lights and they are not working. Where is the fuse box ? Would it be better to put a 15 amp fuse in ?

Clear codes

You can clear the codes (to check and see if they come back) by connecting two terminals in the DLC connector, turning the ignition switch ON, and then pushing the accelerator pedal down at least 8 times within 5 seconds.

The pins you need to bride with a wire is pin 4 and 13.
Bridge those two wires and follow the above instructions.

Remove ute bridge wire cycle the ignition and start the ute. See if the light stays off.

Hope this helps.

Could be a faulty brake light switch. That will log a a/b correlation code. They can be dissembled and cleaned but if it is a 2011 it is a warranty concern. Take to toyota

ABS dash light on after ripping out rear right wire!

Hey All,

I didn't want to start a new thread if I didn't have to, so sorry In advance if I'm hi jacking an old thread. Had a similar incident after being a little silly on a mates bucks weekend! Went driving at night through some heavy bush and a stick ripped out my rear right ABS wire. The rip is back up near the plug, and was wondering how I go about getting it repaired myself, or I am better off going to the dealer?

It's on my 2011 Toyota Hilux Dual Cab. When I get home from work I'll post a picture of the actual problem, but for now, here is a image I got from google, and I highlighted where I think the problem is. From what I can see I'm pretty sure it's been pulled out from the back of the plug and play for the ABS.

Cheers in Advance!

Adz

Had the ABS, VSC, traction control and brake warning lights coming on randomly and stay on. Was able to narrow it down to the warning lights triggering when braking, but were not throwing any codes to further isolate fault. Checked and cleaned all ABS sensors, but still warning lights would come on, sometimes the first time I braked, sometimes 30 min into a drive?

Thinking it probably was an ABS sensor, contacted Toyota who quoted $180 to hook up their scan tool, and $331 per ABS sensor.

Then I noticed that the LH brake light was not as bright as the RH? Replaced the globe and all four lights disappeared instantly. Luckily I hadn't forked out hundreds for ABS sensors I didn't need. Fixed for under $10
