hilux parameters question

hey guys iv been looking into scan gauge/ multi gauge set ups and looking at all the different websites they are always saying things like 60+ gauges and after reading though the list i can pick out maybe 10 that i would want but i was just wondering does anyone know what is measured by the hilux via the obd2 plug? im just thinking it would be pointless having a gauge that can read out a bunch of different values if the hilux will only support 1 of them.

these are the ones im thinking of getting
http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AeroForce-In ... 2ec7231999

it is a 2008 sr hilux if that makes any difference
i have looked through 40 pages of technical part of this forum and cant see anything with the info im after but if iv missed it please let me know :)

anyone at least know where i could find such info?
iv tried google, owners manual and the workshop manual. i have also called the ever so helpful toyota but the general idea of the convo was " you will void warranty and we do not recomend it"

since its out of warranty im really not worried

Ok using a v-checker

Engine temp
Engine speed
Road speed
Egr position
Egr target position
Egr lift target and position
Calculated engine load
Throttle position
Mil on or off
Malfunction code count
Malfunction clear restart times
Rail pressure
Injection amount
Scv duty %
Scv target duty %position
Map pressure
Maf air flow grams per hr
Maf intake air temp
Alt voltage
Time since start
Distance travels since start

I know missed some

Hope this helps

I have no idea why they would say it will void your warranty. As all the gauge is doing is reading output data.
I also have a data recorder that just stays there for it to 60 days as records after every start. No display it downloaded to my computer to view and examine the data for fault finding issues.

You will not get auto temp as it runs a different computer.

I have a 2010 and a Scangauge which does read the auto temp. Boxhead is there a difference between the '08 & '10 ?

I have just had a PM around the ScanGaugeII and the Auto Trans Fluid Temp and though I would answer here for everyone's benefit.

As said earlier I have 2010 D4D Auto and a ScanGaugeII. Out of the box the ScanGaugeII wont read the Transmission Fluid Temp (TFT) However the ScanGauge has a feature called X-Gauge which will be documented from page 37 of the supplied manual. Basically you have to program some custom codes into your ScanGauge to enable it to read the required parameter to display the data you are after. The custom codes are usually vehicle / model specific.

The following link details the custom codes for some popular Australian vehicle and thankfully the Hilux.

http://scangauge.com.au/?page_id=338

So from the web page supplied above the code i'm using is 07E121D9 032180000000 1810 0003004DFE7

If you don't have your manual you can download from here http://www.scangauge.com/support/user-manuals/

I hope this helps

Cheers Duncan

Hi
Duncan

Does it work ok with the 4 speed auto in the D4D, as it is not listed on that page?

Sorry for the slow delay. Only just saw your post. Yes it works fine with my 4 speed. Has made me change my driving style.

I just fitted a scan gauge and yes the ATF temp works with the code above in dwglwc's post.
Mine is a D4D 4spd.

I believe this temp is the outlet from the gearbox, there is a sensor on the outlet pipe and measuring the pipe with my infra red thermometer it is always very very close (like +/- 1) to the scan gauge figure. obviously always measured when stopped but have done it hot, cold and in-between.

Highest reading so far is about 85, I recently fitted a big ATF cooler, wish I had the scan gauge before I fitted it so I could compare.

To confirm, this code is definitely for the gearbox outlet temperature, I have been driving around with my remote meat thermometer taped and insulated to the pipe and although a bit laggy, it reads the same as the scan gauge.

I Have a 2007 and have tried all the codes above and here http://scangauge.com.au/?page_id=338, none seem to work, i guess thats because its a 2007 Auto D4D... im happy at that but if anyone has a different code that works let me know. ?

Hey Legends

I know this is a super old thread but I thought I’d drop my recent experience.

I have a 2013 SR5 4SP Auto

My mate brought around two devices.
A generic gauge/code reader that can scan the PID? values to determine what info it can extract (similar to an Autophix 3210 I have), and a ScanGauge II.

The generic unit produced a list similar to what @boxhead provided - no Auto Trans Temp values.

However, we plugged in the SGII and used the code from the x-gauge page for the Hilux (https://www.scangauge.com.au/toyota-x-gauges/) listed as “Auto Transmission Temperature (ATF10)”.

It is exactly what @GazaShaggy posted, except the first value is TXD and not TXC.

It definitely returned values in the range we were expecting.
Well, a bit lower, but it was 13* and I’ve got a trans cooler fitted.
I think we saw about 70* as the highest, leaving it in 4th so it would slip, coming back through suburbia.
The cool air run on the freeway was about 58-ish.

So - I think that sounds about right - and the code works?
Let me know if you think otherwise.

I just need to decide if I want the SG II or III…
