Should I be supplying the trigger with 12 v or should it go to the head unit?

Can anyone give me some more info on this????

Have a hunt around this site http://www.carboncarsystems.com.au/ they have some good pdf files with pics and instructions, you may get an idea for your set up.
At this stage I think I will shop here for one of their units for my 09 SR, after I install new HD PZQ60-00524,arriving any day.

Cheers
Gav.

Hey guys. I installed one of the Carbon Systems on my 2013 SR5 by myself. It was very very easy. There are tutorials for the install. Works perfect as well. It sits just above the number plate. $170 delivered and about an hour of my time.

Well I had a bit of bad luck with mine 2013 SR5, my own fault I guess, from being too fussy.
The factory camera gave a shitty picture in daylight and even with the camera adjusted at night it was next to useless......so I bought a "plug and play" after market camera.
Went to local auto sparky, and there the problem started.
For some reason they didnt just splice the wiring on near the camera, but took out the head unit and cut off "these two factory looms you dont need", then they burnt out old reverse camera , the new reverse camera and part of the blue tooth function. There is probably a few other little gems I havent discovered yet!
I got a little alarm bell ringing when after 6 hours labour the bloke gives me the keys and says "no change mate have a good weekend, bye!"
Off to Toyota today and the auto sparky will be getting a visit from me and a bill from Toyota , I think.

In hindsight, I should have not tried to fix something that wasnt broken in the first place, but I am amazed a professional person takes no responsibility for a job taken on and then botched.

Don't know the laws in NZ, but here they are on your side.
Did you get a fully itemized description on your invoice?
Go to the sparky and discuss your concerns and give him the first chance to put it right, and if your not satisfied write down what you discussed and his reply for future reference.
Then go to your local court house and find out your options.
Here the customer almost always wins in the small claims court, either a full refund or partial one. Just don't go and get it fixed at enormous expense and expect the court to order him to pay, that wont happen.

Hi guys I installed a Kogan rear view mirror kit. Love it. But the camera wasn't wide enough so I got another wider one off eBay cheap and it works well. Wired not wireless. Image

Btw even the above isn't true 170degrees despite eBay claiming it is.

Wifey has a proper 170 camera in her Mazda. Can tell as it has quite a bulb of a lens.

I wired it so permanently on. Useful for off roading. Can manually press touch screen to power off if distracting at night.

Main reason is I've got toddlers around us at camp etc. already ran over and killed my own dog couple years ago , not risking it with kids. They can still sneak under of course but reduce risk where I can.

I installed an after market reverse camera in my 2012 SR5 hilux and it only seems to work
When I put the car in reverse while the screen is starting up with the
Toyota logo and keeps working after that if I start the car and wait for the Toyota logo to disappear
It does not come on at all or work at all after that, does anyone know how to fix
This issue?

Hey all,

I am changing from a tub to a tray and canopy setup in my 2011 SR so will be needing to install a reversing
camera. Does anyone have any recommendations for something that allows 2 different camera inputs? Looking for something that replaces the head unit and would prefer the tablet style unit if possible.

Thanks
