Has anyone fitted a N70ZZL (same size as diesel) for a crank battery to a V6? I'm interested to find out if it touches the oil filler cap under torque loads or not.

I got the TJM tray, and it will hold a D27 yellow top. If you want smaller, you can get the d34 (about the size of the original starter)

Optimas are really over rated for an aux battery, you want a high Ampere-hour (Ah).

D34 has 55 Ah, for that coin you could get a blue river AGM 200+ Ah.

$299 is much better for me, I will probably buy 2 x OCB-120-12-Solar as they 'seem' to be made in Oz & I get a bit of change for a few other toys

Are you using these in your rig ?

Do you know why the -solar on the end of the model number ?

So i'm not sure if my second battery is on its way out guys!! but i have a volt meter that reads 10.7 volts on the second battery and then it charges back to 14.4 (redarc BCDC 1225), am i right to assumt my second battery is on its way out?

if that's the reading any time soon after being charged without any load, it isnt on the way out, it has already left.

Thats in the morning after not driving for say 10 hours and only having a fridge running off it.

how much driving time do you do, you really need a good ten plus hours to recharge a 100 ah battery, maybe 15 for an older one.

Put the battery on a multi stage charger for a day then see how long it runs the fridge for.

Batteries will develop a surface charge on the plates which will trick the redarc into thinking it is charged enough to reduce the charge rate, they will not pump 25 amps into the battery just because they are rated at 25 amps.

I drive 45 mins to work and then back every day so it should be charging enough
Anyways its charging and we will see how we go as the Battery is less then 12 months old

my ctek didnt seem like it was cutting the mustard only driving 10min to work then 10min home with 12hr shift in the middle. fridge always in the back set to 1deg and after 12hr shift it had turned off and sitting at 7deg. so i went to autopro and got a 150a VSR (voltage sensing relay) and hooked it up instead of the ctek and now it charges much better so i am keeping it this way. ctek is only still in engine bay for me to hook up my solar panel.

VSR are cheap it might be worth trying out

Just an idea and forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere. What I do with things like batteries where there are many brands, sizes and costs is start with the cost $ and divide by AH then divide by warranty Yrs
$/AH/Yrs This compares value. eg A battery costing $245, is a 125AH with 2Yrs warranty. This would be worth $0.98 per AH per Yr. This gives an exact comparison for any item. So the lower the $/AH/Yr the better the value.

Hi just get same Bi-carb soda mix with water and wash down the hole lot battery terminal to.
Make shore it is tight then put same grease or go by same spray from the auto shop .

A strong solution of cold tea is a good neutralizer too. Save your teabags and boil them up, let cool and tip it all over.

Doesnt fit..

Was given one yesterday and as you questioned it touches the oil filter.
Also doent fit the little tray they are supposed to sit on.

Ended up going with a supercrank from autobarn
Think its 720cca

Ive got dual batt so wasn't after anything flash

So i did all the things suggested in this post topped up the fluids gave good charge and it finally died yesterday. Over 12months later

A couple times hilux has struggled to start past few week on occasions.
Yesterday had to jump start myself.

What gave you guys replaced your cranking battery with?

I still got the original one be 5 years in a couple weeks since I picked up the old girl, so am happy with that.

So do I get a genuine Toyota or something else.

I do also have a optima marine blue as a dual battery and that's been great.

I got a 850CCA from NRMA. 2 years warranty. Can't remember how much it cost, about $200, i think.

Been a solid battery, been covered in mud and water and no issues.
