The only bad thing I've heard about these battery's is if you have a problem with them, there is almost no chance of them giving warrantee.

Why spend so much when in the case of my 2007 Lux I still have the original Thai made battery which I am planning on running into the ground as I have a dual battery to get me out of the sh@t when it happens. From what little I know of our alternators just make sure the replacement battery is compatiable with it as not all cranking batts are suited to it. Just my 2c's

So I'm up for a new battery as my original has just dropped a cell I have a second cracking battery in the my arb tray that I plan on useing as my starter battery
Question is what should I buy
Another cranking battery
Deap cycle
Or any other. I don't run the second one flat very oftern so from what I have read deap cycle should not be used.
Should I just use a cranking battery like I am now to run my fridge and canopy lights and a few other minor things.

cranking batteries dont like to be discharged slowly as far as i know. they last longer if they are used in short bursts with high discharge where deep cycle batteries prefer to be drained slowly. i have always been told to use a deep cycle for my lights and fridges and things and use a normal battery for cranking. wouldnt surprise me if i was wrong though haha ;)

Yeh that's what I thought but im worried if I use a deap cycle battery and it does not get discharged very oftern it could shorten its life.

I'm no expert but FWIW I had a marine battery as my main and a deep cycle as second.......seems the marine battery has good CCA with good deep cycle properties as well....the isolator also stays connected longer so your appliances run off the combined batteries longer instead of just off the second.....

Yeah, my second battery is a deep cycle and a marine battery. They reckon that the marine batteries last longer with constant shakes from corrugations. Less likely to drop a cell.

I'm up for a deep cycle battery. What the best battery out there? Price , warranty, size? Not looking At spending hundreds of $$.
Super charge have a deep cycle $250 and a 2 year replacement warranty, a calcium batt.
Deep cycle batteries generally only have a 6 month warranty.
Cheers, Stuart

Check out all purpose battery's they are at smeaton grange and have a really good website, they deliver free and were about the cheapest I could find. Heaps of info on which battery you will need and the guy was really helpful when I rang him

my advice would be to make sure you get a deep cycle MARINE battery. they handle the sloshing around alot better when out 4X4ing and on corrugations.

I have a century marine pro 720 as my second battery and I have it connected to my 38ltr engel fridge which I turn off about once every 3 weeks to clean it then its straight back on and my lightbar, compressor etc. Apparantly the cells are more suited to constant shakes and vibrations and also a great deep cyle battery. Also has 1 or 2 years nationwide warranty. Been in there for almost a year and im happy with it.
