Is this a calcium battery?

It says ca-ca on it and when i research it listed as calcium-calcium

Reason I ask is I'm running my 7 stage charger on it which has a calcium mode which ramps up to 16v during equalization stage instead of lower voltages for traditional lead acid batteries

My auto sparky was saying to just use wet mode (aka lead acid mode) because its some sort of hybrid battery but then sounded a bit vague when I pointed out ca-ca.

Don't want to damage it but by same token would prefer to use appropriate charging mode.

Thoughts?

I have the same Projector battery charger. It threw an error code when charging a brand new Supercharge Allrounder MV70 which is expanded calcium grid technology. The charger worked with out error code when charging a wet cell so I reckon I might need to charge the calcium battery using the wet cell setting - but will call supercharge first.

hey i also have an MRV70 / MV70 all rounder for an aux , that was going to be my next question.

might stick to wet cell ... but i know that for true calcium batteries they do prefer that higher voltage to really condition them well (but on the other hand if im misinterpreting the "calcium" designation, i may cook the sucker)

Yeah, a bit confusing with hybrid batteries - you would think they would state on the battery what charge to use... I let you know what Supercharge recommend.

Called Supercharge batteries today. They do recommend charging the Allrounders on the calcium setting. However, I asked what setting I should use when suing a BCDC 1225 redarc dual batt charger and the bloke said keep it on wet cell setting because the calcium setting has been known to "overcharge"

My redarc is on wet mode. Happy to leave it that way. But every now and then before a big trip I like to chuck the 7stage projecta on to give it a bit of help / reconditioning. Will stick to wet mode I think. Seems no one really knows !

Thanks Qwerty - from what I have read it is good maintenance charging up the battery from mains power periodically. Will switch my redarc over to wet. Cheers

Yeh wouldn't take my word on things tho dude I'm the one asking questions ha ha!

I wanted to run my "ca-ca" as a calcium battery but can't seem to get a definitive answer. So will stick to wet mode I guess on all chargers and batts !

Btw someone on weekend said to me that pure calcium batts can not handle heat or go in engine bay hence the ones i/we have must be still wet lead acid, albeit hybrid

Spoke to bloke at Challenge Batteries in Osborne Park.

Calcium battery wont charge when flat unless specific calcium battery charger used.

Once enough charge will charge with normal battery charger.

I used lead acid battery start car on jumper leads to get calcium battery charging by the car. Took leads off.

I havent been using my hilux lately. Battery went flat as my son left LED cab light on.
