Custom rocker install

Haven't looked at this for a while since I got my switches sorted just wondering if any one has thought of doing the same thing I did that was to simply pull the cover off the switch and swap the led around only took me 2 minutes and works perfectly with no need for diodes or multiple relays

Just finished putting a couple of new switches in. Pretty happy with the results. Nice OE look that I was after.

I also got the Narva harness with the Extreme spotties and tried to install using Carling Tech rocker.... it just about did my bloody head in trying to get it to work

Gave up, pulled the harness apart, reconfigured it a bit ;) and went with 2DOMN8U's diagram on page 1. Worked first time, no problems with rocker lights. Thanks mate.

Maybe I'm missing something . I have seen a few people have had trouble getting the switch illumination working to indicate the switch is on, which is easily fixed, but when it comes to these new led illuminated switches the polarity of the led becomes a issue as well, in the diagram they have fixed the problem of getting the led to light up but have put the circuits load through the switch. I THINK . Am I reading this wrong or is there a major error in there wiring diagram???

has anyone brought a CR switch lately and installed to the diagram that is now on the CR website??
Looking at this one that people have been having trouble with and the new one on there site is now different.
i just ordered a couple last night and like to know before starting to wire this way.
cheers

Haven't seen that diagram before Quinny, but it does look weird - why bother with the relay and still put full load through the switch ?? I'd guess that it may be the electrical equivalent of a typo :)

The diagram that came with my switches must be the new one cos it shows the load being powered via 87, as you would expect.

I am a little confused as to why the 85 pin is now shown as pos and the 86 as neg. Probably makes no difference to anything, unless your relay is diode protected - but why ?? Negative switching shouldn't make any difference.

It's on the first page of this thread and also on another that is linked to here too. The one on Custom rockers site shows pin 8 from switch connected to the High beam circuit that turns negative when switched on and also pin 86 goes to the same place.
I had been reading on and off for weeks before I brought my LED bar light from Newtech Pro and the switch from CR. Should be turning up tomorrow so was just hoping someone may have used the new diagram with success as their was posts for using a diode and another for using a second relay....

Sorry but mine aren't wired up yet. Waiting to get a bunch of stuff ready before pulling off panels, running split corry etc. Can't see why the current diagram wouldn't work (despite the 85/86 reversal) though.

well just spent hours trying to get this CR switch to work with my 2013 SR5 following the directions for Negative switching procedure....no go. followed instructions from 2DOMN8U's diagram....no go.
So I tried the POSITIVE switch procedure and the switch works perfectly  , light works with the high beam exactly as should and all is good.......no wonder I drink a lot.
Can someone tell me whats going on. I have read so much about doing this switch and the RED wire with the yellow trace from the high beam that should turn from 12+ to 12-, but on mine it justs turns 12+ when the high beam is turned on
turns out to be the same as the 95 hilux sitting beside it in the same shed that I put an LED light on and wired up yesterday in 25 minutes....

Well - problem solved :D

Strange about the red/yellow going + on high beam. My red/yellow goes from + to - on high beam.

You may never know the reason  Just enjoy the result - at last :D

yep I did...this morning
all the reading I did was this thread an a couple of others and there was plenty of taking about the negative switching for these.

So has anyone in the history of mankind be able to get these to work as they should. I am wiring spotties in the usual way (for active earth) they work but i can't work out how to get the switch to illuminate. Have tried both diagrams and no luck.

Which wiring diagram did you follow, 1 or 2 ? I currently have the switch working to isolate the spot lights so its all legal, but can't work out the illum.
I have green/yellow and blue on each side of the trigger wire.
And this below also isn't helping as i don't know if they are indeed reversed.
Are you able to shed any light on my conundrum?

mine work following the directions that came with the Custom rocker switch Positive diagram, but I have not put it in dash and tapped into dash lights yet as the bar mount brackets I ordered from Newtech pro don't fit the ARB bar   so I can only tell you that the switch light on the top works when activated this way

So all the trouble I went too getting the wiring sorted out and now Newtech pro are closed for moving and no contact numbers or email replies to fix this problem until the middle of next month.
