CB aerial help

Postby cr1pp5 on Mon, 31 Mar 2008 10:43 +0000

Hi there,

I,m running two aerials at the moment, but when I want to change, I have to unscrew one and put the other in. So I was wondering if I can run two aerials at the same time. Is there anything out there that would allow me to bring two cables in (the aerials) and one out (to the CB). Is there anything like this available?

Cheers,
John

quick search id say u want something to switch between each of the different antenna's, i cant see it working properly by just sorta joining them together.

3-position coaxial rotary CB antenna switch (about 0.5dB loss!) $19.00
3-position coaxial push-button CB antenna switch (about 0.5dB loss!) $19.00

sure there are other places

id say u would only be able to use 1 antenna at a time, im not sure how well it would work with the 2, but perhaps it can as it is 3 pos, so id say Antenna 1/Antenna 2/Both Antenna

What do you use the two antennas for? There is a case in hilly conditions for a low gain antenna, but I have fond the high gain fine anyway. Do you realy get any benefit from changing them over?

In a convoy (eg short distance), even a .7w handheld will keep you in touch anyway.

thanks for your help jcarter...and rodw i know what your saying, but i do a fair bit of bush driving (up and down logging tracks) when we go camping, which is every second weekend, and i have found that with the high gain, I'm not getting as good reception as i would like.

cheers,
