Theres a free one everybody can use - try leaving the key in the ignition for a min or two after you've stopped driving - amazing - it does the same thing as a turbo timer and its totally free! How about saving your hard earned cash to spend on something else decent and just sit in the car for a min or two after a long drive to cool her down, just my 2 cents....

Turbo Time what a waste of money/time and like Bullzye said who is going to trust a Hilux handbrake
My Lux is auto anyway , I can get by without the handbrake

Really how often do you go from high rev's to a stop , towing or driving up steep tracks without some slow down low rev's time .

The idea of idling the engine after working it is because the oil circulating thru the turbo cools it down...

Yeah no shit, but you do not need to but a $200 turbo timer to do this, thats the point i was making before...

Turbo timers have their place, in earthmoving equipment they are almost mandatory simply because there is no way an operator (especially if he isn't the owner) is going to spend 2 or 3 minutes of his smoko and lunch break sitting in the cab waiting for the engine to idle down.

On the other hand maybe life is just too short to sit in your Hilux twiddling your thumbs while the engine idles down, I can relate to that.

Bogaard make a very good product, and it's designed, made and serviced in Australia. Has been widely used commercially (earthmoving, trucking etc.) for a long time and has a proven reputation.

Sure for application your talking about it, it make sense as those engines are built for a different purpose and most probably produce alot higher egt's - but for a small 3.0 litre diesel motor i just dont think its worth the money as 30 seconds to a minute or two depending on how long you've been driving - is enougb cool things down to reduce damage....

Totally agree with you Hellbound, I've got a Bogaard timer I got for free years ago and wouldn't even waste my time to fit it to my D4D Lux as I just don't need it.

Well I personally couldn't be f#%*ed sitting in my car with the ignition on waiting for it to cool down. Don't see how it could do any harm and why would you not install something for a small price that could potentially keep ur pride and joy running for longer?

Much rather be cracking a beer after a long run down the beach with the turbo working hard than sitting in the cab watching the clock....small price to pay to ensure the longevity of the turbo,especially give the price of a replacement engine - approx $20k.

anyone got instructions on these bogaard turbo timers? 09 KUN26 i just got has one already in it. but the selected time doesn't stay set. each key cycle changes the time set. pushing the time select button does nothing. the unit does function and stops when you push the button.

much as it is a wank factor reason id like to keep it is i can start the ute of a morning to de ice in sub zero conditions. and leave it to de ice for upto 5 mins while i go put boots etc on. and i can take the keys out while its doing so.

but the fact i cant keep the time set the same nor lock the vehicle while its engaged tells me something isnt right. and looks like bogaard are no longer. website is empty. facebook is 5yrs out of date etc.

I don't really see the need for one but is the problem related to the switch? Does it need a battery for example. It appears to be some kind of remote.
