remote - what frequency?

remote - what frequency?

Postby hobo on Tue, 12 Jun 2012 9:21 +0000

Anyone happen to know what frequency the door remotes (lock/open) use for the 2010 lux?

Both my remotes wont work when the ute's parked outside the front of my place unless I stand there for 5 minutes holding the remote near the back of the bonnet continually pressing the button till it 'flukes it'.

If I park around the side of my place the remotes work, if I'm 'out' anywhere both remotes work.
I've replaced batteries & when it was in for service couple of weeks ago toyo checked codes etc, no issues.

I'm 'thinking' a neighbour has recently bought some new equipment (cordless phone / wireless router /wireless doorbell / wireless house alarm etc) that's swamping the signal from the remote.

2.4GHz? hmm thanks
- in that case i'll guess someone nearby has a new wifi device (router-LAN \ k/b or similar) seeing as the problem is 24/7

frequency counter would do the job. It needs to have a 50 Ohm input and be able to work up to a high enough frequency.

Stick a short piece of wire into the frequency counter's co-axial input socket and activate the transmitter nearby. You should get a decent reading.

I've done a similar thing myself to test a home made RF oscillator.

I found my remote has issues if I'm using my wired in usb charger. It's one of these https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca ... AU&start=4

If it is 2.4kgHz tv remote extenders sometimes use that range so maybe a neighbour has one. They are illegal but you can buy one from dick Smith and Jaycar,

If you want more range try putting the tip of key to your head while pushing the button. Dont laugh it does work, more than double the range
