Hi will post some pics and details tomorrow, have mounted my camera through top of the number plate, slightly angled down, picks up the top of the ball, I hitch and unhitch and tow lots of boats during the week and is real easy to hitch up by ones self without touching the chrome bumper/step

Mounting a reversing camers

I bought my screen and camera off eBay and am really happy with it. I have it set up so I can see an object as close as 150mm from my tow bar. Here is the pic of it the screen stuck to my rearview mirror.

And a pic of the camera.

and the links to 2 types the guy sells. This shop is very good and I have bought 4 of the first type from them. For a little extra you can get an infra red camera instead of the standard, just ask before you buy.

G'day Lately, I just bought the same camera and screen after seeing your post here. Have you got any advice or improvements on your on install or is it all pretty obvious?

My reversing camera has just arrived, a 7" mirror style. Was planning to mounting near the number plate. Has anyone else done that?
Plus is there anything special I need to do to run the lead up the passanger piller though the roof lining to drop down above the mirror.

thanks
Greg.

i have the lcd mounted on the rear view mirror. it works a treat but on hot days the weight of the lcd and mirror drop down but stiffen up again when it cools down.
if i did it again i would remote mount the lcd and prob mount the camera above the number plate as mine is drilled into the canopy
but great to back the van up to
If it moves shoot it , if it dosn't, give it a push

Duges, I am toying with the idea of making a bracket up to mount the LCD where the clock is on the dash. I also want to mount and accurate Temp and oil pressure guage there too.

I have run the wiring for it through convoluted split tubing on the outside of the vehicle, and under carpet and trim panels inside.

tolinja, what size LCD do you have on the mirror? I covered the back of the LCD with 3M double sided tape and it stays stuck to the mirror even through really rough country. The mirror also stays in its place.

A friend of mine has 2 set up in the centre console of his patrol. 1 for reversing and another to connect to the camera on the back of his T-Van. So when the trailer is on he can see the hitch on one screen and use the camera on the trailer for a rear view and reversing camera. He is the one who got me onto these cameras.
