Hi All,
As an intro, I've got a 2009 Hilux SR single cab 4x4 turbo diesel.
I've recently joined the forum to find info on how to get cables from the engine bay through the firewall into the cab for some switches I wanted to use to control some LEDs I got for the rear tray off eBay.
I've bought a dual battery tray and red arc sbi12 isolator which I'll install soon and I'll have those lights run off that.
Instead of trying to get some cable through the main firewall grommet and possibly damaging the factory cables I looked for another way. I took the injector module off on the passenger side and there is a small grommet that I used to run 4 cores of 1.5sqmm i think, it's good for 7.5Amps anyway which is plenty for the switch controlling the relay coil I'm using. Also going to use some cores for a USB charger that fits in the switch positions.
I just took the grommet out by hand and drilled through it since it's solid all the way through. I took the side trim off on the passenger side which holds down the vynil floor. Then took out the glove box and small quarter panel on the door side of the footwell. I took off the trim underneath the switches but I probably didn't need to do that. I pulled down some of the sound proffing behind the grommet. I used some Vasoline around the grommet and pulled the cables through easily.

I haven't got the switches off eBay yet but I thought this may be useful for others!
Cheers,
Alex
