Submergable Rear Camera

Submergable Rear Camera

Postby redbeard on Tue, 13 Nov 2007 8:55 +0000

Gday Guys,

I am looking for a camera to put on the back of my lux that can go under water. I have poked around at a few stores and of the water proof cameras none can be submerged. Go figure.
Any of you blokes got cameras that are happy sitting in the water? A bit of help would be great. Cheers,

Submergable Rear Camera

I had the same thought the other day...

My only suggestion would be to house the camera in a water tight box with a perspex front?

Maybe a IP55 box with some decent silicon work on all the edges etc?

There must be some water proof cameras out there, but they wont be cheap.

Otherwise maybe just a good blast of fish oil before you get anywhere near water??

I would love a good solution to this one.

Cheers

Submergable Rear Camera

Postby Senirb on Tue, 13 Nov 2007 11:55 +0000

I was at the OUTDOOR/CAMPING/FISHING & 4WD SHOW at the Sydney showground Homebush last weekend and there was a mob Called "VMS" (Vechile Media Systems). They have a Sat Nav/radio/DVD?bluetooth for phone ETC ETC with a reverse camera kit .Up to 3 camera input. This system also came with Topical maps which is awesome for the offroaders. The sales guys assured me the camera they used were complete waterproof. To get this system installed is about $3500(just under) or $300/camera without any bargaining(yet) You can ring them on 02 9684 5577 or the website for this product is www.vmscarpc.com.au
They are willing to do a group sale

Senrib,

Your spot on... I already ordered a kit.

See the post "Car PC help".

I guess the question is whether there is a difference between fully waterproof and submersable.

Time will tell I guess!

Excellent, problem solved then!!

I think I'll still give it a good basting with fish oil though... if for nothing else other than the lingering smell!!

Cheers

Submergable Rear Camera

I have a camera system that has a water resistant (submersable) camera. Done heaps of river crossings, driving in the rain, washing the car etc and no problems.
