hay i had mate with an sr5 come over we pulled the cover off under the steering of both and found my 07 sr does not even have the wires from the ecu to the plug so i traced his back to the ecu and one of the wires is power out well on my ecu it is not. my conclusion the sr ecu is not programed for cruise controll hence the 2 pins do nothing. any way after a few hrs i gave up.

There is no way it is as simple as adding a stalk. I fit OEM type (stalk is exact) cruise controls for the AP Eagers Group. They are one of the biggest Toyota dealer networks out there. I do about 5 Hilux's a week. If it could be done they would already be doing it. If any one wants info on my cruise PM me please.

hey all,

Am a new member just bumped into the thread of cruise control and did some works on it but failed.

I have fitted the OEM stalk, manually wired it up from the under steering to the ECU.

Unfortunately it does not work! Any suggestion or anyone have successfully done it?

Am driving a 2012 2.5Lux 2KD-FTV

I suspect that there is no speed info being sent from the meter cluster to the ECU, which i have been going thru much sites and no specific informations.. :(

Any comments of suggestion?

Ok how are people going with this.
I have a 09 Hilux extra cab manual 3l Turbo diesel that I'm really keen to fit the factory option so need to find out what I need to look for on mine ie plugs in steering column near brake and clutch etc and i will check it out

Talked to Toyota spares today the person on the phone was as helpful as could be
It seems that unless the vehicle came fitted with cruise they could not supply parts
E.g they punch in the original VIN to find required part numbers
But what I was given was a copy of what was found when cruise was searched in their system and guess what only the stalk came up I'm on my phone but will post the pic Friday when I get home

Basically what I have found from the Toyota schematics is that pin 21 on the engine ecu which goes to ECU connector E5-21 must have 12 volts on it. If it does, you can fit cruise control, if not then probably a different ECU is required. If you have a manual transmission, then you will also require a clutch switch which can be in series with the brake switch which is on pin ECU E6-14. Your brake switch is already hooked up to this and the pin E6-14 will be at 12 volts until you press the brake pedal. A normally closed clutch switch series-ed with the normally closed section of the brake switch will cause the ECU to cancel cruise when either the break or clutch pedal is pushed. E6-14 is the cancel signal for CC. I which there were an easier way to post the pictures of the ECU connectors. If some one can suggest a easy way, short of having to upload the pictures to a web host in order to provide a download link, I will be happy to do so.

Well I stalled on this for a while coud not seem to get pic up and got side tracked
What I can tell you is even Toyota use different pedals and firewall brackets on the cruise versus non cruise
I got under a newer SR with cruise it has wiring and switch on mounted one the clutch pedal firewall bracket and on the pedal it has a tab to actuate the switch on my 09 both brackets are not factory fitted
I have purchased an aftermarket unit with a factory looking stalk I am fitting it tomorrow the only thing I'm going to try and workout is how to possibly get the factory light to come on then I will be happy

Hey All

I bought a kit from Autostrada off E-bay and followed the directions to fit it. Put it in on a Sunday afternoon and all is sweet. About $600 I think but thats only two speeding fines so well worth it.

Redmick, did you succeed in getting the dash light to come on?

Factory Cruise Control for SR D4D Auto

There is no dash light for the non cruise fitted models as the dash is a differnt part number

But this is the wire which is the led earth out of the ecu. The blue and white one

But you need those 2 wires available in the pic above.

So basically if your ecu has the 2 wires coming out for the cruise you can fit it either by wiring switches and LEDs like box head or using a factory switch ? Is this only SR autos?
Box head would you kindly share the factory resistances for up ,down, on/off, cancel . Could measure a switch but I'd like the actual range by the book .

Have fun
If you have an manual you will also need a clutch switch

the clutch switch wire is the green with white trace just dow and to the left of the little blue with black trace pin 10 . just under the red arrows tip ir is a positive switching wire. sometimes there is a wiring tail hanging just in front of the clutch peddle assembly

If you want the factory look these are reasonably priced:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131045994469 ... 1423.l2649

Clutch switch:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171128007929 ... 1423.l2649

Looks my wiring diagram is for an Auto which explains why I'm having trouble trying to work this out.

Anyway, my understanding is as follows:

E5-21 is the pin required to operate the cruise, basically a switched earth circuit at various resistances to give the ECU the correct command.

E6-14 is the brake switch giving power to the ECU/Cruise circuit. Power is cut when the brake is pressed.
E6-15 is the second brake switch circuit to the ECU. Normally open, provides power when pressed.

E6-10 is the clutch switch circuit to the ECU. Normally open, provides power when pressed.

Assuming I'm correct here, E615 & E610 are basically doing the same thing, so why is the clutch switch needed?

I've checked mine, & E6 14&15 are already there and E521 & E610 are free.

I have had one of these on my 2010 manual td from new. The module f$@#&% out about a year ago (out of warranty of course)
Overall even with the new module from them i've never been happy with it. Whenever you 'set' it always speeds up before coming back down. If it set it for 100 even on a flat road it will sit be 98-102.
There is no way to adjust the sensativity.
The old vacuum command ap150 that I have used on 3 cars (exact same unit) work heaps better!

First post.
I have a 2010 SR Hilux. Had a look through this thread, noticed my SR basically comes with everything except the toggle.
(It had the wires noted by Boxhead, had the Clutch Switch standard)
Busted out the Multmeter and had a look around, tested the clutch switch. Everything appeared good.

Bought the above product, plugged it all in... No cruise control :(

I have only just done it so I've yet to go back over it with a multimeter and see what I missed. But yeah, for those wondering, that was my outcome so far.

There is an earth you have to connect and make sure your clutch switch is connected. There is no light for the cruise in the dash tho

Do you have a wiring diagram of the cruise circuit for a 08 Manual BH?

The one I have is for an auto.

Don't care about the dash light, just would be nice to get the cruise working

Where is this elusive earth you say...
Ran through with a multimeter again and found everything is reporting correctly.
Clutch is definitely connected.
I think you mentioned E6-3 in one of your posts, not sure what that is for.

What I am staring at.. (I think im looking at this right...)
