Radio screen X&Y Axis reset

Radio screen X&Y Axis reset

Postby Skrewdriver on Sun, 11 Feb 2024 6:49 +0000

rI have a 2012 SR5 Dual Cab and I was wondering if there was anyway of resetting the factory radio screen, in the sense of the horizontal and vertical touch screen is out of whack.

When trying to use the keyboard for example in the GPS, when trying to type the letter T, I must hit the letter Y, and it selects the T.

When trying to configure my phone for Bluetooth, I cannot press the Settings button as the touch mode is to the right of the button/area that I want to use.
Any ideas please?

(Hopefully, I have explained it in a way that makes sense)

Radio specific fuse?? No I have not tried that

Would battery removal do the same thing? As I have had to replace the battery, therefore everything gets reset, and that has not done anything.

I will try fuse specific fix attempt

Back again, done the fuse removal. Left the radio with no fuse for 30 minutes, no change.

Was able to get the iPhone connected to the radio, but the X&Y grid settings are still off kilter.

Sounds like an allignment glitch.
Have you checked (or been playing with) :) the screen alignment & resolution settings?

Hello Rob Wood,

Alignment settings? I did not even know that there was such an option, so I have not been modifying anything like that. If I did, I would not waste other people’s time by asking for help in fixing this.

Whereabouts are these settings please.

Regards,

Peter

Maybe a previous owner has been playing? Just a thought.
Can't advise on your particular model, but most (if not all) screen devices these days have some kind of setting like this. Your TV, your computer, (mostly) through the "settings", then you might find something like "Display" and then you'll find screen resolution settings. Maybe 1024x256x???

Thanks for that Rob, I will have a look when I get home.

I bought the car new.

It is a 2012 SR5.

Cool, that's an indicator, I'm now guessing that this issue has occurred somewhere along the way and hasn't been an issue since new? This being the case I'd further guess that when it first occurred that something has changed to affect the "status quo". Maybe a software update didn't operate correctly or someone made some changes you might not be aware of?
My phone had an aftermarket "keyboard" app that didn't work properly and I had to do a "Factory Reset" to get it back to standard.
Another possibility is that the screen itself is delaminating and so the prismatic effect on the light waves "offsets" what appears on the screen.
All just thoughts & ideas to look at. I hope something helps you find the source of the issue, I'd be interested to find out what's going on.

The misalignment of the touch sensor to screen picture/button position is a common issue with the touch screens on the Fujitsu Ten based Toyota Nav Systems used on lots of models around your 2012 Hilux era. Unfortunately there is no way to get them realigned using the Diagnostic Software on the unit so to fix needs the touch screen replaced.

No association but looked online and these guys do them and can explain the issue, then provide a quote to repair if you want to keep the Hilux original (if you don't care about that there are lots of aftermarket options that are better than the OEM version). https://electronicrepairs.com.au/produc ... pair-1435/
