HID Wiring and high beam on together

HID Wiring and high beam on together

Postby gregwalshoz on Sat, 25 Sep 2021 9:32 +0000

Hi guys I have a hilux sr5 2010. I need some help with hid wiring. I have change the headlights from the standard dual filiment system to a separate High and low beam head light. I have two questions  2 questions.
1# Exact wire colours to use from the factory harness to connect Hid lights to which goes on the low beam.
2# Exact wire colours to use to have the hid low beam and the high beam come on at the same time. I know I need to use relays and diodes but struggling with the wires as it is a negative switching system. I've spent days messing around with this and looked at 100s of wiring diagram to no success.

This doesnt provide colours but might help somewhat https://www.narva.com.au/resources/swit ... ng-diagram

I bought a prewired neg switch kit some time ago... it wasnt great but it made it very simple.

My best advice though is take it to a auto sparky :)
I might be wrong.

this may help?
Image
the missing bit at the bottom just goes to earth.
red positive ,b-w low, r-y high
to turn the low beam on with the high beam add a relay that turns on with the highbeam and switches earth and connect it to the low beam
I told lies in another thread when I posted an 80 series diagram.

Thank you I did have that drawing. Using a meter If I switch the high beam on i have the red as positive and red yellow as negative which reads correct on the meter. If I then turn to low beam the red yellow becomes also positive which I believe is correct being a negative switching circut.

If I have the low beam as red positive it causes the parking light to come on very very dim and then won't turn on the low beam . I even tried a diode on the red wire incase it was looping back.

the positive you are seeing with the meter is coming back thru the element in the light . normal
unplug both globes it will go away. it will make a relay latch on.

Yes very good point. So relay the high beam and low beam separately with the trigger wire as red for low beam red yellow for high beam and just ground them both to the black white.

thats what the 2 relays on ebay do. use the positive and the 2 earths to switch as theres no globes in the control circuit to cause backfeed the problem goes away
