Capped Price Service

Postby ryturn on Fri, 28 Jul 2017 11:07 +0000

Just received an email from Toyota informing of a bit of a mistake with the CPS price seems it should have been $240 not $180 as in the service book.
Anyone else received it ?

That's interesting. Is it your first service? Mine is $180 and has been since I got the lux. I'm up for 40,000k service in a couple of weeks, if the price changes I'll let you know.

Have spoken with Toyota and told it's 240 for Hilux delivered this year ,mines 10/16 deliver so it will still be 180.

I do believe that Toyota increased their prices from 180 to 240 due to "needing to use a special formulation of oil for the new engines" ~ Toyota Salesperson 2017.
However I was assured that the cap price when you purchased the car will remain the same and not increase.

Both my 10 and 20k services have been $180.00
They told me that it would be $240 when I bought it, delivered just before Christmas 2016.

I'm assuming if it had have been delivered this year the price would be higher

The new oil adds $60 to the service??
Whats it made from? Unicorns & gold dust!
Can you do what i used to do with my last car, supply your own oil, that meets specs, for services (I've only had my hilux for a month)?

Mine is a 2016 with the $180 service and my mates is a 2017 delivered but identical ute with the $240 service. Unicorn farts and rainbows aside, the oil used is the same spec and qty.

Wait till your 70 thousand service and the price goes from 180 to $360.
It's a minor service too. Pretty much just oil and filter and 40mins apprentice labour.

It's all a ripoff! Dealers make more money from service/spare parts than from new car sales. Then the cream comes when they sell your trade... With the biggest margin of all. My 80 series... $9k trade sold the same day for $16k. Then comes extended warranty and paint protection, insurance, financial etc. That's where they make REAL money! But we fools continue to pay!
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

My services are capped at $180 I got my car October 2016
If Toyota increase the price I'll be seeing my local trusted mechanic for prices to service my lux , it will be cheaper and at the end of the day as long as the service book is stamped what's it matter who does it.

Toyota have named and claimed it to be 'Capped price'. If it's in your sales contract at $180, that is all I'd be paying. If it is a genuine mistake on Toyota's part then they should wear the $360 difference it makes over the 6 services.
