Nice.. I have made a couple of similar shackles out of old dyneema rope. There are a few youtube clips about splicing dyneema to make shackles.

But like all recovery equipment, I'd be very careful with the diy shackles as the load ratings may not be as good.

I have made a couple of these out of plasma rope, not so hard after some youtube practise.
Also, I no longer have a hook on my winch rope, only a spliced eye.
When winching, I have no metal in the setup, only plasma rope, plasma shackle, cow hitched extensions etc.. etc.. no projectiles! unless of coarse its a piece of car.
