Hi from Hamburg, Germany

Postby Paxi on Mon, 08 Feb 2016 10:59 +0000

Hi All,

I signed here because next car will be Hilux and I need additional informations for the right setup.
Plan to use Hilux with a fix installed but light cabin to go outdoor in all parts of Europe and in Morocco.

Hopefully it wouldn`t take to much time that I will post first pics in a build up thread!

Cheers,

Paxi

Hi sa_lux
Hiluxes are Hiluxes even in Europe ;)

Paxi:
For sand driving you will "need" a snorkel to keep most of the dust away from the intake.
Concerning the cabin. Do you plan to build a cabin instead of the bed of on top of the load bed?
There are some serious guys in Germany that might help you in that.
You will have some extra load on the rear axle so you might have to change suspension leafs.
What kind of Hilux do you want to buy? The new model? There are very few "old" Xtra Cabs left at the dealers, DC will be some more left. A single cab is nice to have but there is very few space to put some stuff or get the seats in a resting position.

Will be keen on photos :D

@sa_lux:
thanks for the welcome!
It`s like the the flyingdoctor stated - a Hilux is a Hilux.

@flyingdoctor:
I think I am going to buy a new Hilux Extra Cab. This is 99% sure but what pisses me off is the diesel issue. I know that are some solutions available but I don`t know yet if they work durable.

Cargo platform will dismounted and the fix mounted cabin concept is firstly lightweight with convertible roof to fit container meassures. Secondly it should be minimalistic equiped for one man and offer enough fuel(200L?)/water(80L?)/electricity/heating/foodstorage to cover a max of 10 days in the wilderness with temperatures between -15 and +40°C.

Due to bad road or offroad conditions most of the cabin weight must be between the axles. So I am right in the middle for the planning and the decission to build it myself (with some help of a friend who working as carbon fiber specialist in the airline industry) or only to do the interior upgrading by myself.

cheers,

Paxi

Correct me when I am wrong, but afaik Tacoma is a little bit bigger, it has a differnent frame construction and there deifferences in the payload of both. Main difference is that you only can buy a Tacoma in Germany as an expensive export car.
