Seems expensive for some rubber you can buy at Clark Rubber?
I spent $20 and sealed it up with a few different size rubbers

Watching this with interest. I experimented with numerous ideas to try and seal the tub of my old D40 and was only partially successful. Would be great to get a commentary from other on how good this "fix"is for the the HiLux.

Let me get this straight Adam, you've just purchased a brand new current model Hilux (that I've been told Toyota spent some time and money on improving the dust sealing) but you've forked out for a dust sealing kit?

This is for the tailgate I think to keep dust out of the tub......when you have a canopy fitted.

Here are some more photos of the seal kit. Took me about an hour to do. Price was $313 fitted when I bought the car but I ended up installing myself. Whether this is expensive or not is up to you but it is a quality kit and I have no doubt, dust will not be getting past that seal.

All I have left to do is trim the tub liner, put it back in and wait for my canopy to come in.

Looks like a great set up, would stop the water getting in as well when you hose the back also.
Which that is the part that annoys me the most with my work tools in the back and canopy.

Ps, is the last hilux model just before the new shape the same setup kit you can buy ?

Cheers

Hi,
To prevent dust from comming in you have to seal the edges of the bed, not just the tailgate.

No way this should be standard, it would last 5 minutes in a work ute dragging or digging crap in and out every day. Nice optional extra though for tourer Utes etc..

Most of the Toyota parts are good quality.
Just don't buy things like bull bars and the like off them.
Just to expensive for what you get.
They have gone all out on accessories for the Hilux models, this time around.
Good one Adam for this thread.
Melton Shire seems to be in a bit of trouble with some of their rate payers, ha Adam?
Anthony, a friend of mine lives in that area, as well.

Catch you later, John.

Basic hand tools are needed, pliers, socket set, drill, drill bits, a pop riveter, and something to cut the pinch weld seal. If you have a tub liner, you'll also need a jigsaw to cut it.

Does the tub liner and the canopy have to come off to get this fitted?

I didn't realize this kit was available for the lux otherwise would have negotiated it into my final purchase price!!!.

just had the canopy fitted but the tub liner is yet to come.

Does anyone know if there is a tailgate dust seal kit for a 2015 Hilux?

Tub liner has to come out to fit this kit. It would be best to fit the kit before you get the liner.

I ended up buying the $56 dirt cheap version off eBay and like anything cheap, it doesn't work all that crash hot.

Have you had much luck with the Toyota kit at all Adam?
