Oil pressure gauges ppffftt Get rid of it mate, all they do is worry you and if it's a capillary type you now have a weak link.

I disagree, oil pressure gauge gives a good indication of what the transmission and engine are doing...

Maybe boxhead will chime in with his wisdom and tell us whats normal...

In light of the well known failure of the Hilux's oil pressure sender switch to warn people of a critically low oil pressure caused by a blocked pick-up strainer, you may be right TRDluxxy.
But if you aren't watching it when the oil pressure disappears it can't help you.
I think the original sender switch is calibrated wrong for this engine, it serves no purpose if it's not warning drivers when the oil pressure drops low enough to cause damage.
Regards Chris.

As you can also see here the oil pressure switch is before the oil filter.
So if your filter is blocked or has too thick a filtration membrane that might also cause you symptom

Give yourself plenty of time, a good supply of cool drink, lift the bonnet, take a deep breath and start pulling it apart. It's just like a jigsaw - it only fits one way!

Before you do any thing get another pressure gauge and make sure there is no issue with the one you have.

Or if you have an air compressor with regulator and pressure gauge hook the car pressure gauge to your compressor to check.
