Rear Seat room

Postby Pete315 on Mon, 13 Nov 2017 7:50 +0000

Anyone had any experience with 2 baby seats in the back of a 15+ Hilux? Are you still able to fit 2 adults comfortably in the front?
Bit of a back story, sold my FJ back in Feb basically because it wasn't practical with a baby seat in the back and my wife driving it most of the time.
Have been putting off buying a replacement/ battling with the wife over what we are going to buy. She wants a Prado, I want to get a Hilux to retain what is left of my manhood..

Any input on fit etc would be much appreciated.

Baby seats & hilux’s are a pain in the arse. Trying to get the safety strap down onto the anchor points which are under the seat is a mission ( you’ll need to get the extension for the safety strap as well ) basically when you go to lift up the seat to get to the strap the back of the seat gets closer to the wall making the gap smaller and harder to get the strap down. I have one baby seat in mine ( passenger side ) and never had any dramas with room, if i were you, go the prado

I just did the same sold the FJ for a Hilux. Heaps more room. With the baby seat on the passanger side my wife pretty much had her knees against the dash with the seat most of the way forward, at 6'3" my knees were uncomfortably pressed against the dash. In the Hilux we have the passanger seat pretty much as far back as the seat will go and can stretch out. The anchor point in the 15+ is easy, it's the top centre above the middle seat.

I’ve got two squids and it’s not that bad. Youngest is still rear facing and I can sit in the front seats. I’m 6” and it’s squishy but not impossible. Fine when they are front facing. The top tether is crap though as it’s a mission to get the tethers tight while feeding through the fabric hoop above the seat. Depends on the type of car seat though.
