My hilux was a 2010 dual cab diesel sr5 and I had a scan gauge reading my auto temps

Another way to stop the torque converter working so hard is below. Its a torque converter lock up kit.

Interesting read if your worried anout it.

The torque converter is a device that sits between the engine and the automatic transmission. It is referred to as a fluid coupling with an unlocked or free spinning mode and a locked or engaged mode. The transmission ECU automatically controls when the torque converter is switched between these two modes.
When your vehicle is travelling in a situation where the ECU calculates that the torque converter lockup can be applied, a solenoid is activated sending oil pressure to act on a clutch inside the torque converter which in turn ‘Locks’ the engine output shaft and transmission input shafts together so they spin at the same speed. This primarily is to reduce heat build up and also reduce fuel consumption.

Due to most vehicles being manufactured and tested to be operated on sealed roads in suburbia, the torque converter clutch usually works perfectly. However when the vehicle is in towing and/or offroad conditions, it can quite often cause frustrations to the driver as the factory ECU appears confused and is constantly changing the state of the torque converter clutch. With the assistance of the GENII Torque Converter Lockup Control System, the driver can override the torque converter lockup circuit providing a relaxed and enjoyable driving environment.
The operation of the GENII Torque Converter Lockup system is designed not to impact the vehicle’s standard operations in any way. We have specifically designed it so that when the system is off or unpowered, the torque converter circuit is operating under the factory standard ECU with no modification to the circuit. When you activate our GENII Torque Converter Lockup system, the in built ECU takes over control of the torque converter clutch circuit. Providing the factory ECU with a signal that mimics the solenoid and preventing any diagnostic lights from coming up on the dashboard.
The system can be purchased as a self install kit with easy to follow wiring schematics for each vehicle. However, if you are not that familiar with a soldering iron then installation is available at our head office in Bayswater, Melbourne or one of our many dealers around Australia.
It’s that easy
Once installed, the operation is as easy as pie. It’s just ONE button. Press the button when you want to override the factory lockup control. Then press again when you want the factory ECU to take back control. It’s that easy.

Can anyone tell me how the temp is read? On techstream you get a temp reading from some ware if the gauge sender is only for light

You are better off with a sender in the transmission line where it exits the box and heads to the cooler. This is your hottest point (straight after the torque converter). Wholesale Autos will sell the union with a sender in it as it is what they use in their kits.
You also want to put the oil to air cooler AFTER the factory cooler, not before it for towing. This way you get the coolest fluid possible with the factory cooler in circuit

So on the 4 Spd is that the one with the original sender in it?
I blew a trans up (over load) and now have two coolers one laying flat. Getting air from bottom of bar other is against radiators then goes back to trans

I don’t think so, these measure the pan temp from memory. On my A750F the exit temp is a lot higher than the pan temp (pan temp off Scangauge). Mine has an analogue gauge fed by an old fashioned resistance sender. It is mounted in the union on the side of the box where the fluid leaves the transmission to the cooler. The union is exchange with the Wholesale Automatics gauge kit.
Mine has a maybe 250x200mm cooler, mounted between the inter cooler and the condenser, plumbed after the radiator cooler. Unless I do something stupid (like drive on sand in 4H or tow in 5th) I never see more than 100deg on the fluid exiting the converter. Even towing a HK V8 Monaro or HQ V8 van on 800kg car float doing 100 up the hill just north of Murrurundi NSW on a 35deg day with the A/C on full cold it stays below 100deg.

How does the redarc sensor screw in? Sensor is NPT thread (imperial), Toyota’s are metric?? Thought maybe a nipple of sorts, but then the sensor would sit high out of flow.
