Dual cab behind seat water bladder

General discussion of basically anything Hilux related

Hey all,

Just a heads up that the HiLux Water Bladder will be discontinued along with a number of other Flexitank products come the 1st of July, 2015. If you order them before the 15th of June (pending stock levels, I'm sure) then you'll be able to receive one. Your warranty will remain valid if you purchase one prior to the discontinuation date.

Managed to pick one up from ARB Moorebank on Tuesday prior to their discontinuation (we currently have no water storage solution whilst camping) but they had to order it in from their Melbourne warehouse which only had eight left. We'll be giving it a run this weekend (headed to Mt Coree) but we've already run into an issue where the top inlet hose threads in about three-quarters before the screw loosens the seal. I'll have to give it a test tonight to see if it'll leak or not.
Check out Slain's Overlander, a perpetual work-in-progress.

Looking at getting one of these. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/60Ltrs-4x4-a ... 1328234510?

From my measurements it seems a little long, and I don't think there's any chance of getting 60L in there, but even if it holds 40 it will be worth it...

That fill port may get in the way of the seat back...

I think the filler will be ok. Should just be able to bend it into a decent position. The breather connector at the top seems like it could be a bit of an issue, though, the way it sticks out. Especially when the bladder is full. Allegedly they are made specifically for Hiluxes, though...

The one in the pictures has a different part number on the sticker than the listing shows (DW85H vs DW60H), so the images are not exactly what you're buying, just for illustration purposes.

It says in the description that you can customise the inlet/outlet placements at no extra charge. So I'll have to decide which side i want the filler and drain to be on, and where to put the breather. I guess the kerb side makes most sense for the filler and drain...

Edit: I ordered one last night. I'll put up some pics and detail when I get it and install it.

Evening all. I got my Fleximake bladder the other week. I've installed it and used it while away camping for the week last week. Very happy so far. I asked them to shorten it to 1300mm which they were happy to do at no extra charge. I also asked them to alter the locations on the inlets and outlets slightly to ensure they weren't in the way of the bottom seat bracket etc. The instructions say to attach the top of the bladder to the seat back brackets. That was fine for the middle bracket as the eyelets were in the correct location, but there were no eyelets in the correct places for the left and right brackets, so I put the extra eyelets in using a cheap Bunnings kit. See the photos. I also put some marine carpet underneath the bladder to ensure it didn't rub on anything. This was also suggested in the instructions. I flushed it out 2 or 3 times before using it. To be honest I can't pick up much of a taste in the water. I reckon it is a little plasticy but it's fine to drink. It tastes better than the water that come out of the stainless tanks in the camper trailer. So I'm a happy camper so far. I haven't measured the capacity but I'm guessing around 50 litres. I'll try to get a more accurate reading at some stage. Let me know if there are any questions.

You do hear a bit of sloshing especially when you go around tight corners or over big bumps but it doesn't bother me.

Some photos. Sorry, I forgot to take one with the bladder installed before I reattached the seat.

The bladder with the eyelets I added (the brass coloured ones 2nd and 3rd in from either side).

The locations of the inlets and outlets. The top one is the breather. The side is the filler. The bottom is the drain.

The filler hose which doubles as a water level gauge, tucked behind the seat. It's easy to pull out for filling.

The instructions.

The inlet/outlet locations that I sent to the manufacturers.
